How much importance do you give when it comes to a crash tested system ?
little and the reason for this is because they are tested at a speed where your unlikely to have a crash, now if they were tested at 60 or 70 mph I would have one without doubt yet no supplier offers this.

I think that the money spent and the options are so in the stratosphere for completeing every eventuallity that a test at one or two speeds - then using maths would be ok, wouldnt it? What you only see tests done at this speed of 60/70mph?

Really? The companies that test seem to test around 30mph. Given that the vast majority of accidents occur in urban settings, this seems to make sense.

And as for this original question, I know enough physics that I wouldn't dream of using a non crash-tested system under any circumstances. If you look at the forces involved when you crash at even 30mph, they become so great that trust in, for example, ratchet straps seems misplaced to me.
All my own opinion, of course, before the attacks from the ostriches start.

Really? The companies that test seem to test around 30mph. Given that the vast majority of accidents occur in urban settings, this seems to make sense.

Now that makes perfect sense ( if you excuse the punn vin) These tests are so expensive to do that choosing a speed that an accident would most likley happen in an urban area, I guess that woyld 30 to 40 mph

strappings are safe if used correct tonnage and used correctly,baffles in the tanks should
displace some of the force with movement of water.
i got hit up the arse in my old ford transit connect i had a 400 ltr tank strapped with three
straps with a min break of ten ton if you buy straps from reputable company most will
have been proof tested ,most strapping is rated 6:1 the problem can be in the fittings attached
which normally are claws or delta links they only carry a proof test rating of 2:1
anyways i got hit at around 30mph my tank didnt move an inch forwards but did move
a little sideways.maybe i should of been strapped in better because i ended up with whiplash ;D

Them tanks will be empty mate or they wont have fluid in.

70 on a motorway but 60 for most of us on dual carriage ways.

100% AGREE A fellow aquantance had a accident in his van. Van smashed to pieces and system stood up when he hit a wall head on at just over 40mph.
He hates the company but will only buy that particular manufactures system as they way its fitted and tested.

the system I use is custom made cage and are twin tanks I take safety or me and my staff seriously, this was not being offered by suppliers so I had it designed for what I wanted and installed by a coach builder, I just dont understand why they only test at 30 mph you say this is because of urban, this maybe a fact if you live and work in villages, I always see vans on the motors ways so the crash testing is not covered or am I wrong in thinking this ?, this is my reasoning for it.
I am in no way slating what Ionics have done as it is a good thing, but at the same time I am not under a spell to praise them at every turn either, I am just giving my honest opinion like it or not this is what I think.
