Title: Briggs head gasket

Well it seems as though my problems are dwn to Head Gasket gone. Could anyone shed some light on the best place for Briggs parts for my vanguard engine from Blazer. Also, not sure if its 16hp or 18hp?

Take it to a Briggs dealer and have them sort it for, no job for ameteurs.

I meant to diagnose the problem for you before you spend money on something that may not be the problem. My Blazer Plus had a supposed gasket problem, which turned out to be something else. Got the gaskets if it's a 16 horsepower.

It is 16hp. My man is a mechanic (and fireman). He did a compression test and another test (dont know what it was) that ruled out piston rings. He says these are the same engines that the fire brigade use for water pumps and he is in charge of maintenance.

Did you say you have a set of Gaskets?

Distance may be a problem on that one, I really want to get a set of gaskets in the morning.

You'll be lucky, dealers rarely stock them, usually takes 2 - 3 days minimum but you might be lucky.

The gaskets I have are part number 806085S, you need to get the engine number and type off the engine and give that to your Briggs dealer, if the part numbers match I will send you the ones I have at cost.

Probably a sniff test,which changes a liquid a different colour to indicate the gasket gone  ;D

don't want to teach you suck eggs..!! but while the head is off check that it is not warped by running a straight ruler over it. Could save a lot of hassle later on
