I was driving my girlfriend to work today and saw two people out working on houses at 7:10AM!!! I couldn't believe it i wouldn't even start at that time through the week, I think 8 is the earliest i would start and probably about half 9 or 10 on a Saturday. Another thing was they were using ladders and even if they tried to be quiet the noise of them putting the ladders to the window would be enough to wake me up.
Am I alone in thinking this is too early for a Saturday morning or do you think its ok? Also what time do you start domestic work at through the week and at the weekend (if you work it)
-
Might have been pre-arranged.
Or as someone wise on here said - window cleaners aren't expected to have good social skills and so we can sometimes live up to that view to our advantage!!!! ;D
-
not a problem if you know your custie is not in at this time of day, fair play good on them, if thats the case, if not this is a big risk of upsetting and losing them.I would not think of turning up this early on domestic, without pre arranging it

Years before I became a windy we had a married couple do the front of our house. They turned up at around 7 in the morning.
I had already gone off to work and my wife was asleep in bed in the front bedroom. At the time she was expecting our first child.
The fact that they were clattering about with ladders that early was one thing, but then hammering on the door for the money two minutes later was something else.

i used to work nighshifts and no sooner had i got to kip then the clatter of them ladders .. sqweeky noise on the windows would wake me up >:(....then some years later i caught one of them piŁ$ing up the side of my house... nearly ripped his head off ..threw his ladders down the street... never had i window cleaners since ;D... these guys still work and seem to have a monopoly around my way ( there is a about 6 of them they are traditional).... i live on a decent estate and seeing as i'm adding WFP soon wouldn't mind a few custys around here..... after making some eqnquiries apparently these guys are taxed by the local Villan whom they pay money too :o....
should i step on their turf / toes ???

did they have royal blue uniforms Jonny D? they start every morning at 7am and knock the door :o
-
i didnt get a good look at the one doing the bottoms but the guy doing the tops was wearing a tracksuit with a stripy hoody under the tracksuit with the hood up lol(looked a bit rough). Who is it that has the royal blue uniform gibson?
I used to work nights as well and hated it the local window cleaner done my neighbours you could hear their ladders clattering about before they got in my street.

ahh there is a couple of guys up there do loads jonny, doesn't surprise me really, I get asked to do the area all the time, but can't be bothered with the hassle, but it could be any number of folk to be honest, I recognise most of the vans and cars to be honest rather than who is cleaning windows
but yes 7am on domestic on a saturday is a bit much, but hey if they get away with good luck to them
-
i would invite then in for a bacon sandwich, but that cause iam up at 6 and that type of guy ;)

I know we are sometimes regarded as lowlife numties we does not have to live up to the image as I know we are worth more.

Nothing wrong with that if it was pre-arranged. I've done it myself. Without pre-arranging, I think 8.30 is probably about the earliest for domestic - though I have done 8.00 before. On a Saturday probably 9.00 is better.
-
A bit early for domestic work nine o'clock start would be okay ... mind you saying that it will soon be light at five AM and stay light until 10ish works out to a double shift ... rest of the week off?
-
I would not like to be up a ladder cleaning any window while my hung over custy is try to get some horizontal refreshment on a Saturday morning. No NO not me!It could put me off breakfast.
-
I have a woman that moans at me for coming at 3.30 as she is on night shift should i do them through the night could i establish a run of night shifters

i think a lot of ladder guys start earlier because it takes them longer to get their work done if their using "the horse and cart" of window cleaning!! ;D ;D ;D ;D
