Title: Self employed IPAF
Post by: KLEENAWAY on April 11, 2012, 09:23:32 pm
Just wondering how much you chaps would want/like to be earning per day if you had your cherry picker licence?

Iv been offered some work from a cleaning company but no idea what the going rate is and is its worth paying for the training. Thanks in advance

Danny

I can get IPAF qualified agency for £8.50 an hour.

Tends to be more operator and kit hired together.

Not that expensive though and an enjoyable course. Can't do you any harm, especially if you're already being asked to do this type of work.

not sure if you misunderstood mike i think if you hired a machine for day and didnt have a licence you could hire an ipaf qualified person from an agency for 8.50ph to operate which is bit pointless coz u can get operator with machine hire

Richy I think you may also misunderstand as you can't go up in a cherry picker unless you have been trained, even as a passenger.

I would want my day rate an then any money on top for the hire of the machinery.

I have a licence an its a doddle. In fact its not even a licence its a certificate of competency

What, you can't get in a basket if you are not trained? I don't think that's true. The firm we hire always has untrained personel in there baskets, not operating them of course and they are quite strict with their practices.

I think you will find the going rate is about £10 per hour for a minimum of 10Hrs (8hrs on Site)

OK, I should have checked before I posted.

Cherry Picker / Scissor Lift Operator (IPAF)   Short Term = £11.98   Long Term = £11.48 ----- Prices + VAT

Agency mark up is going to be between £2.50 & £3.50 so aside from employment costs they're probably paying around £7 per hour.
