Title: Bank Charges
Post by: KS Cleaning on April 10, 2012, 07:25:40 pm
In the next month or two I am going to cut down on collecting and push more for internet faster payment,BACS,cheques etc.I went into my bank(RBS)today and receptionist was fine about me opening up a new current account to recieve these payments, which would then be transferred in to my business account in one transaction at the end of the month.Got a phone call an hour later from the receptionist saying the business manager won't allow this.There is nothing illegal about it, they obviously just want to make a bit of money out of me which is understandable, but in the long run I am hoping around a third of my customers will pay using these methods so I calculate 400 customers at an average of 35p would mean charges of £140 :o :'(As a result of this I am gonna look elsewhere,I think free business banking is mainly open to new businesses?How does my charges compare to others on here as I feel my bank are quite expensive?

BACS=35p
Standing orders=45p
Internet faster payment=35p
Cheques=28p
Manual credits=61p
Cash=67p per £100

Hi KS
Have a look at Lloyds business banking - they do a tarrif which is free for online transfers - you pay a £5 standing charge each month then only pay for cheques and cash transactions - you'd get 12 months free to start - maybe 18 if you've already got any lloyds accounts

That doesn't matter with Santandar because you post them the cheques

That was the plan when I opened the Santander account Vince - I just don't fancy putting a load of cheques in the post - I'm hoping they will open a branch nearer
