Is this just a post to make a statement or would you like to some help to resolve this issue?

If it is the latter then a few questions:

1.How old is the pole?
2. Does this affect all the clamps or just one or two?
3. Have you contacted us directly already to seek assistance with this?

I find that my two CL-X poles expand and contract noticeably with the changes in temperature. If the temp is cold one day, the clamps need to be tightened slightly. If the next days temp is noticeably warmer I have to slacken them off again. I've even had this happen during the coarse of a day as the temp has increased. I've also noticed with my older pole (1.5 years) that the clamps have become much easier to operate. However, I still love using it. Even after 1.5 yrs of use it's still much better that the poles I had prior to it even when they were new.

Not this question again im getting bored of hearing the same old story... With all working tools there's an element of wear n tear it's a 2 min repair job.. Or just phone them direct cause they seem very helpful to help with any issues you may have..

i find the gardiner clamps very good.they usually need a little tweak here and there throughout my working day but it takes 2 seconds!!dont over tightened the screw though or you ll strip the nut!!you only need to adjust slightly for it to grip the section tightly.

i like them much better than the clamps on my brodex hydra thats for sure!! :P ;D ;D ;D

I have posted before about gardiners clamps.

They DO expand and contract with changes in ambient temperature and sometimes require day to day adjustments if the weather is all over the place.  Alex posted a reply that he would look into this but he has not confirmed this himself yet but i have proved it in the field with a CLX27 for almost the last 2 years.

The consolation is at least they are easy and quick to adjust with the need to even put the pole down or use a screwdriver, as a professional window cleaner i accept this as part of the job, i do not find it a burden in any way.

I find using a nylon lubricant on the clamp levers also greatly reduces wear and prolongs the life.  They great poles on the whole - and extremely good value considering for example a CLX27 can pay for itself within a working day.  My CLX27 is still going strong after 2 years on original sections with only the need to replace a clamp barrel nut that got cross threaded in that time, and that is on daily use.

There you go Alex - how about a job in your PR department - or at least some complimentry pole hose  ;D

In the years I've been using the slx pes I've had about 2 clamps need reglueing over a total of 4 poles. That's an acceptable fail rate considering the amount of use and abuse. The reason why they sometimes need reglueing is because there is so little adhesion surface for the clamp to be glued on. This reduces the overall size of the clamp making a much better pole. I think the clamps are well designed and work great. The alternative is to have a much bigger clamp that will never come loose and have an awful pole in comparison.

I've noticed the clamps needing adjustment when the weather changes but never really viewed it as an issue.

Simon.

I don't get this clamp lark - on my slx I just "nip them up" - never worry about closing them; had the pole 4 years, still going strong.

If a clamp spins on the pole section it should be glued to just gaffer it! Or re-glue it if you can be bothered.

I purchased three Gardiner poles last year.  Two are heavily used by Wor Lass and I; both SLX's, and the clamps have been great.  One did come off after about six months, but it was a simple case of gluing it back on; not difficult at all - even I could do it without assistance; and I've had no trouble since.

In fact after a year of abuse - though I do look after them from a maintenance point of view - they have been superb.  Wor Lass is cack handed too!

I did have initial doubts that they would last a year (though some members here have been using their same pole for four years) - and judging by that year, I'd say there's a few years left in them yet.  That's pretty good value for money in my books.

I give the SLX 9/10; it's a brilliant pole.

And no, I'm not on commission!
