Title: Hosepipe ban thoughts.
Post by: AuRavelling79 on April 06, 2012, 09:15:51 pm
Just thinking (dangerous I know...)

Right - when "we" use R/O's 2/3 of the water goes straight to the drain. When we wfp a lot of the water we use goes into the custies drains and thus in both scenarios is available for the water companies use inasmuch that it flows to a point where it is pumped back into the system.

When "they" (householders) water the lawn in hot conditions it gets used up by the plants/grass and takes a huge amount of time to get back into the system although it eventually goes into the clouds by evaporation or rivers but may take months.

So a huge proportion of wfp water goes straight back into the drains and isn't lost. Moreover it helps dilute the soap and stuff from car washers and pot washes.

So it's pretty environmentally friendly really.  ;)

No comments please from tradders with their filthy soapy water which takes zillions of litres of clean water to cleanse just 5 soapy litres from their buckets before it is usable again. ;D

Clutching at straw's there Gold, with that observation, are you not? Even the drain stuff has to evaporate then fall again and be treated before use. We will all be dead and shriveled up proon like by that time.
PS.....Unless you are a Jock ;D ;D ;D MON THE RAIN.

I've had about six customers ask me already about the hosepipe ban. I've told them I'm exempt because I do it as a business but they wouldn't be allowed to do their own.

I can see this turning into a problem though. Thinking seriously about reverting to the trolley for the duration of the ban just to get away from using the highly visible yellow hose. How long before we start getting comments from the neighbours? Or worse, neighbours phoning the Water Companies? I know we are in the clear (for the time being) but too much attention is not welcome. I would rather stay out of the spotlight if I can
