Do you keep staff details files? So easy just to keep a track on the inside of the file.
As per Steve said really.

You've been quiet of late, is it all coming together yet?

When I ran a warehouse full of people, each one had an A4 card with 28 squares on it, they then filled in the date or dates they wanted off, I signed them to authorise then put them onto my year planner.
Their cards were kept in a filing cabinet we all had access to, that way they could easily see how many days they had used/booked/left and no arguments were needed.
HR also had a form they needed filled out and they then wanted to approve the holidays for my staff!! That didn't go down well with any of us, I used to put the form through once they had started their time off.

I don't agree with staff holidays. I think that they should be outlawed under section 137 of the 2012 Its not practicable to pay people whilst they aren't earning act.

Having said that,

I've just paid a new lad of mine a full weeks pay for taking this week off, and now bank holiday monday is coming around again and 4 people will need to be paid.

I'm finding it very distressing as tuesday will come around and we/i will be chasing to pull their expences back.
