Post by: richardlingard on April 04, 2012, 03:38:27 pm
Hey, i wonder if anyone can help me, ive added one of those gardiners trollys to my kit bag and before i get the pure freedom lovers kicking me in :-) i like the idea of the hose real on the side and if i can help it i dont mind parting with my hard earned money to the g man so much...so does anyone have one, what are they like, how do you control the flow (are you just using a flow control tap or something ? and if i use pole hose as the main hose how much do you think i will be able to squeeze on to that sexy little real?

also any advice whatsoever on using the thing or problems solutions that you may have encountered would be much appreciated.....

thanks in advance

Our customers have used two methods of controlling the flow rate:

1. Using a flow valve on the pole which allow you to vary the water rate on a window by window basis.
2. Fitting a electronic flow controller to the side of the battery box. This can either be cheap Maplin style unit or a full blown liquid logic type controller.

Im about to do a little experiment with the WCW backpack...

according to their techys the flow control on that is a simple voltage control - so im going to replace it with a wireless voltage controller like you'd find on a winch or garage door..

Its far too much hassle walking all the way over to the backpack to turn it off, so i rekon a remote control should do the trick!

David, save yourself some time, look at gardiners push fit flow control have it at your pole, or alternatively get an aquadapter, you wont be dissapointed with one

That what I use. It works fine when switching on and has quite a good range.

Unfortunately the rf from the motor interferes with the remote signal so it won't turn off. I have to pinch the hose untill the pump stops and then press the off on the remote.

Also, the power for the relay box comes from the battery but will drain a trolley battery overnight if left on.

Will the Gardiners trolley fit in the van with the fixed reel?

It depends on the size of your van and how much space you've got available inside.

it fits in mine nowjust about with the handle on and everything, i have a doblo with a flat tank so it tight but i just about can past the handle of the hose real, its possible to list in with about 10 litres of water in it, any more and its heavy, however you will be able to judge how much to use on most of your houses and it has a measure on the side, i think its a pretty nice bit of kit :-)
