Everyone seems to rave about Gardiners but complain about the clamps. Looking around I have ssen Elite recommended and the clamps are said to be solid.
I'm looking for recomendations on two new poles, one for ground and first floor, the other upto just under 40 feet (3 storey renovated building with extra high ceilings / windows.
Thanks in advance
Ian

Haven't seen a complaint about the clamps for some time. Nothing wrong with them really.
As for Gardiner poles, I can't fault them, they are still the best. Also best customer service I've ever had.

I would stick with Gardiners, especially for a longer pole. The clamps on Gardiners are a lot smaller than any other clamp I've seen which means that you get a longer extended length for the same closed length, this also improves lightness and rigidity. I can only speak for myself, but I've never had any major issues with the clamps, I do try to look after my gear though.
Simon.

looking at the spec for both theres no comparison
Elite poles which are full carbon are beaten by the clx range in weight and closed length
Marginal difference in price... id say gardiners look better , but i only have experince of using clx22
Anyone i know with slx, sl2 speaks highly though, dont know anyone with elite poles

Elite poles are a bit like Andy Murray,at any other time they would be world beaters, unfortunately they have arrived at a time when the competition is too hot.

I've had both side by side for a couple of weeks for a comparison.
The Elite poles are VERY rigid, but the clamps mean the closed length is longer than the Gardiner poles. Gardiner poles are also lighter (enough to be noticeable). The Elite poles are like the old MK 1 SLX's,.. the top section is quite wide, which makes all the sections below it wider & heavier. Brilliant for rigidity, not so good for weight.
I tried both,.. now I own an SLX. ;)
