Title: Van Insurance
Post by: Richard Shepherd on April 02, 2012, 05:52:16 pm
Insurance is due on my Vivaro van backend of this month, got a letter today from current insurer to say that they weren't willing to quote this time due to the fact that I have a tank fitted.

I went on the compare sites, cheapest I could find with 9+ years of no claims for me and my lad (he is 24) is £1200.

It's no wonder folk drive about without insurance, I think they are trying to price people off the road.

Anybody know of a company that will happily quote with tank in back.

I've got a Peugeot expert and insure it thru Autonet mate - it covers a full system and I'm pretty sure it was with aviva - good price this year too  :)

I have same size of van and same no claims discount as yourself,I am insured by Aviva(didn't use a broker)for £470 and my van is insured for any driver.I added a second van with the same cover for £420.If you put yourself and your spouse as named drivers then ask for an open driving policy, you will be covered for any driver.I think others on here have tried and failed to get this cover but it would be worth phoning Aviva to give it a try.

Aviva cancelled my policy recently after 4 years of being with them. After all the talk on here about not being covered with a fixed tank,i decided to re-check my policy,it went to the underwriters and the policy was cancelled, so I am very surprised to find you are covered,I would double check your policy just for your own peace of mind

Regards

That's interesting, I'd now be worried If my policy was with Aviva!

I just renewed this month and I got them to put it in writing as I wanted to double check as well from what others have said on here!
Does it make a different as its business insurance not personal?

Been with NFU for 30 years! Without doubt they are the best. Not always rock bottom price but never expensive either. And if you have a claim it is sorted with no fuss.
