Had a call off local branch manager today, the company is going to central contracting, she asked if I could submit a lower/better price to try and compete with national because she dosent want to lose me...FFS havent put prices up for a few years here, was hoping for an increase this year....been in this game for 30 years and have to say this is the worst ive known it, just wondering if its worth doing commercials anymore....slowly going down the pan :(

speak to gav lammy hes the main man. ::) ;D

Is it worth doing commercials anymore....slowly going down the pan very good observation. Then all the commercial cleaners will be moving over to domestic work and the pressure will be on for enough work for all.

Just stay clear of national chain shops. Shops arnt great earners anyway unless you have the high street hooked up.
Don't sweat it still plenty of work out there
-
it think it will come full circle and they will stop national cleaning as the work will become so bad due to the contractors subbing out to subbys then subbys sub.
the person at the bottom of the food chain will refuse to clean anymore for less then min wage it is already happening a few quid a shop with a 30day contract and you have to get it signed off each time, it really is just a matter of time before it starts to crumble

You'd think that would happen but it doesn't, some accountant in head office will pick up a nice bonus because he has saved the company x amount of pounds over the year, those head office bods couldn't care less if the windows are being cleaned properly or not, its all about bottom line profit

We've just done some work today for Tescos, they're on a national contract and guess what, some of the windows don't get cleaned, isn't that a surprise!!

Its not just national contractors that miss bits, ironically the guy that does my local Wilkinsons is the worst I've ever seen, and I've seen some bad ones, he will moan like f### when he hears they are going national, yet I guarantee whoever takes the contract will do a better job, even if they miss every other window every visit.
