Think you bright sparks on here should all get together and sort out a system that we could all use during the water shortage periods.a simple system that we can all use.
Somebody must have the brains to do it cheaply.
-
there is no rain, thats the problem ;D
-
Maybe we could all have a whip round and pay to convert sea water into pure water!!! What you think?? ;D

Takes about 4kWh to work up enough pressure to RO 1,000 litres of seawater; that's about a quid, so similar price to water from a water meter and no sewerage charge.
Not such a daft idea...

Apparently in the States rain water harvesting is; depending on which State you actually live in,
Actively Encouraged with grant aid available
or
Licensed by the County,
or
Illegal!
How long do you think it will be in the UK before someone in power starts thinking that there's money in this?

if you got a big enough tank and buried it in your garden surely you might survive the drought then.
-
this may be an urban myth but don't the water companies claim the rain water is theirs and can charge you
for collecting and using it ??
on another note the farmer down the road has just made a 30,000 gallon resivoir in his field
mmmmmmmmmmmm..

Its not an urban myth, By collecting rain water you are technically preventing it going into the drains or the ground water system so they can collect it to sell. Thats the way they see it, its a bit draconian but in the eyes of the law they have the right to all the water in their area. They pay the Government for the right. Its only times like this that it becomes an issue.

On that basis I claim ownership of the clouds and the moon.
