When first started out I was 4 weekly but that went to monthly as round grew and wasnt able to get thru them all on time.
Now got a part time helper and seem to only a day or 2 behind so thinking about going back to 4 weekly.
Anyone else done this ... I rekon most customers dont even know when there due ?
-
I seriously doubt anyone would notice.
-
hmmmm thats my thinking too.
Bimonthly being moved to 7 weekly as well.

I do 2 weekly and 4 weekly and in the past have done monthly. I've found that no matter what frequency you have you always have spare days in the summer. Whether its working more hours or better weather you will be quicker, but you may struggle in winter months.
I have 5 days a week of work and we were all done yesterday. I could fill up 2 days easily but when the dark nights are here I will be struggling. What I'm doing instead is price increases and canvassing better priced work. Always schedule your round within the constraints of winter
Best of luck

im mainly calendar monthly but occasionally get round 4 weekly.the only problem you might get is if you clean at the start of the month and turn up in the same month at the end.
im roughly monthly for most run of the mill work with a growing 2 monthly customer base at higher prices.

I went from monthly to 4 weekly.
I much prefer having a 20 day working cycle, it just makes more sense to me.
Not a single customer of mine noticed or mentioned the change.
-
4 weekly = 1 extra months pay come the end of the year
every calender month = 12 lots of money
every 4 weeks = 13 lots of money
so if you are taking e.g 500 p/wk being every 4 weeks give you and extra 2k per year..
( you'll see i aint doing window cleaning if you check me out ... but seriously looking at adding to the portfolio just need to explore i few more things)..
Good honest craic on the window cleaning section of this site BTW

I have been cleaning stuff I did at the start of march this week, only a handful noticed and a simple it is a 5 week month explanation assure them you aren't at it

hmmmm thats my thinking too.
Bimonthly being moved to 7 weekly as well.
why would you want to move bi monthly to 7 weeks if your going to be 4 weekly you'l be in the wrong place on your round for the bi monthlys, keep it 4 and 8 wkly simples, im 5 and 10wkly tho gives me chance to catch up a couple of days if im behind and custy shouldnt notice as most think im monthly
-
4wkly for me ;) ;) ;)
-
I'm mainly 4 weekly & 8 weekly but have a fair few 2 weekly, 6 weekly, 10 weekly, 12 weekly and once a term for some schools.
The 4 weekly are almost set in stone, and I fit the others in around them - plus a bit of pressure washing, gutter, fascia & soffit cleaning and gutter clearing as and when
Would be a nightmare without George!
-
4 weekly for me with a few 2 weekly as well
-
started 4 weekly now every 26 days. 14 cleans a year instead of 13 =+£££££££s ;D easiest pay rise i ever got ;D
-
some of my commercial work is done to the day, others are up to 2 weeks late, my domestic cleans are very rarely done on time, i have loads of work, i always say , ie 4-6weeks ish, my customers are happy with that, they know i am reliable and do a good job.

i get quite a few thinking its only been 2-3 weeks even tho im 5 wks, wouldnt like doing 4wkly feels to soon, 5 wks comes round fast enough i think 6wks is perfect but iv got 10 wklys so not changing them to longer a frequency
-
4 WKLY FOR ME TOO
monthly is a nightmare to organise in comparison.
20 day cycle = 20 work sheets= simples

do windows need cleaning every 4wks if your wfp!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
who cares if they need doing or not ;D i am in this game for me, but to answer your question yes if a big bird has made a mess 2 days after your last clean, or there has been 90mph winds or you live next to a busy road, jings some shops get done twice a week

I'm 6/12 weekly. In prep for a week off I'm cleaning everyone after 5 weeks rather than six - not one of them has noticed or commented.

Plenty of windows that are dirty. Though the question is not whether they are dirty or not, it's a matter of how often can you repeat your service to maximise earnings. This is business. If would clean houses every week if I could get away with it. 4 weekly or sooner is best. Barely have to touch the windows with hot and they are done.

Hi Ian,
i'm monthly. In practice and as i tell my customers this may equate to 5 weekly or slightly longer if we have bad weather. Whilst this might not seem a good business move given others comments regarding keeping the round moving, 20 days work etc... in practice it means to me i can take days off my 'round' and do gutter cleans, conny cleans etc and i'm never really late. I never really judge the efficiency of me getting round my round, i just measure if (and i am) i'm working everyday and earning. I call most of my customers before clean and the difference to me operating this way seems to be the difference between..."oh, you're coming again tomorrow" to "oh great thanks". Downside to operating the way i do is that you need more customers, and plenty of work coming in. I wouldn;t get to exited about only being a day or two behind given the recent weather we've had either. Up side is you can crack on every day, downside is (if you're charging a premium, like i do and think you do too) you're turning up to clean already clean windows, take it easy !!!

When I first started I used to take coffee in my flask. Just recently I've been taking tea, but have now decided it might be better if I just have coffee. Has anyone gone back to coffee from tea or am I just incapable of making the simplest of unimportant decisions? 8)

Hmm. I prefer tea, but only freshly brewed. Can't stand it in a flask,it stews. Like coffee occasionally, much prefer to get a fresh Latte, or a maccy dee's one. They're expensive though, roughly £1.30 per cup and i only do £250 per day on me todd. So, percentage wise its an expense i can do without, but sometimes i throw caution to the wind and think...f*** it !!! I'm havin a coffee !!!!

maybe a simple decision but wanted to see what others thought ... I must remember just to ask important questions from now on ;)

will you get 13 cleans a year in though?do you not take xmas and summer holidays or time off at easter?i take around 4-6 weeks a year off.2 weeks in august,a week at xmas,a week at easter and maybe the odd week here and there through the rest of the year.
i try and keep to a tightish schedule but i keep it flexible as sometimes i get bored of window cleaning and throw my hands up and say"sod it im taking a week off from this daily grind!!!" :D :D :D :D

even if you take holidays, you can still do 13 cleans a year per customer!

good question Daz ... with my current situation of me and a part timer then no not a chance of getting thru it all but decided to grow business with staff and when my 1 van / me and lad jam packed to overflowing with work then put another van on.
Canvassed an extra 33 customers in last 2 weeks so going in right direction but if I went back to 4 weekly that would help with my aims.
however typing this at 9.30am wont help the job along but flippin knackered from a shed load of 1st cleans yesterday ;D
-
good luck with it ian.
im happy to stay as a one man band these days.i earn enough for my needs.i had loads of different guys working with me years ago but i found it too much hassle!!
better get out there and do my half a day then 10 days off for me!! :D :D ;D ;D

Why is that a problem, it has been 4 weeks?

I think he means custys will notice more if they pay you out of the same months wages twice.I myself feel this would lead to more wanting to go 8 weekly
