The counter girl in our local post office has just told me, with a smirk on her face! that a second class stamp is going up to 50p at the end of April.
I leave an envelope, stamped and slip with the majority of my customers as most are out during the day, and I live a good way from my areas.
Looking now for other ways to get paid.
Maybe try and sign more onto bank transfer
or might have to go out collecting, which I really dont want to do.
Any thoughts guys? thanks.

I've never left a stamp on the envelopes I leave for my customers.
Most pay by bank transfer now anyway - As you say its probably best for you to push this more!

I have never given an envelope let alone a stamp for people to pay thier bills.
maybe write a letter to each customer and say that from april the first you will not be including the stamp or envelopes as before due to raising costs and to help them you have set up so you cann accept payments online via bank transfer thus saving them money and allowing you to keep your costs down.

Hi
I used to leave a stamped addressed envelope/ collect years ago , but for the best part of the last 5 years have just left a slip with bank transfer details on it .
Majority of customers now use this and the odd one post a cheque at their expense.
No real excuse now for customers to not use bank transfer to pay , even the oldies are paying online now, have a few in their sixties who pay online.
Just explain it isnt cost effective to collect with the price of diesel now nor leave a s.a.e anymore with the price increase in stamps.
Even the ones who at first said they wouldnt pay online soon came round when it meant having to pay their own postage.

I have never left a sae. Just leave the slip and with the options of paying! Especially the online options ie account number and sort code. I also find this quicker with the old admin side of things.

ive put 150 customers prices up kicking in next month that will more than cover the price increase of stamps.i only use SAE for around 40 customers a month, the rest either pay on the day, collecting or bank transfer.

I don't see the point in forking out in stamps for nothing ;D

I don`t get many cheques and I don`t give stamps. But if you think: do a customer for 10 quid, 50 p stamp and 1 quid for parking to bank it, This make bacs attractive.I am about to increase prices and all late payers, cheque payer and in a specified time and all folks were I have to go over the fence or text or phone for locked gates to clean will face the brunt of the increase. All the rest will get a very small increase. ::) ::)

it really doesnt bother me.i earn plenty for my needs!! ;) ;D ;D ;D ;D
to be fair more and more i going over to online bank transfer.just certain commercial jobs and large stand alone accounts tend to pay via SAE.i charge good prices for these jobs so im still quids in!! :D :D :D
