Title: solution hose for ik9
Post by: AshWhite on March 26, 2012, 02:41:22 pm
Just had a lovely shot of hot mpower to the face, as well as spraying the customers lounge and hallway when I had a split in the hose of my IK9.

Where can I get a replacement hose? Or can the end be heated up to fit over the metal wand?

I did consider it, but its only 6 months old so I begrudge scrapping it!

Google 'Solo Sprayers'

Not the best news as I just took delivery of one of these this morning. Does look good however and it seems Solo have done their own upgrade job by selling it with a brass lance & separate upholstery attachment-

You can buy all the spares from Solo Sprayers.
The hoses are cheap so we buy 6 at a time.
I trod on the hose a couple of years ago and pulled it off the sprayer. This produced a jet of m power about 6 feet long, big panic. :o  As luck would have it I was cleaning a dining room at the time and ran out of the opened patio doors, but I had to wipe a few chairs and the wall.

I`m the very opposite Clinton. Coming up for two years and I cant remember even changing an O ring. Isn't that strange. Restormate sell them with a cracking lance.

Get a good metal sprayer like a Gloria. More expensive but will last you a long time and looks the part too. The thickness and quality of the hose compared to the ik9 is in a differnet league! Similar to the solution hose we have on our machines. Wont split any time soon.

I've had several plastic sprayers in the past including IK9s and they just got on my t1ts.

Never tried an electric one so cant comment but again they are mostly plastic too  :-\

A random question, but with a Gloria sprayer, how much do you have to pump it to get it up to pressure?

I find that if I've got 2 litres (for example), I have to pump 45-50 times to get sufficient, constant pressure.

I've added more to my last post above.

Not sure, never really counted  :P But not that many. Maybe 15 pumps at a guess, not that many.

If you put 5litres in and pump it up a few times, then it'll continuously spray till there's no more chemical.

Also has a pressure gauge wich is a good indicator of pressure. < Obviously

http://www.agratech.co.uk/sprayers-and-nozzles/IK-Part-No-857-Sprayer-Trigger-Lance---Nozzle--Assembly.html

as you can see you can buy all the individual parts at very reasonable prices. The links above will take you to a site where you can view other parts/combinations of spares.

Incidentally apart from a new hose my ik9 has worked faltlessly for over 5 years.

Great links Rog, cheers.

I've often wondered whether it's possible to get a hose that is resistant to alkali instead of acid, or is it irrelevant?

I also have IK9's which are years old and still going strong. I never over pressure them and always relieve the pressure after spraying. If you leave it pressurised it is going to stress the hoses and body.

That's a good point about keeping them pressurised.  John, I emailed you earlier through the restormate website enquiring about the hose and a few others bits.
