Title: dye gone
Post by: craignozza on March 25, 2012, 05:28:30 pm: Hi guys i was using chemspec dyegone yesterday and accidently got some on my hands ( I know i should of been wearing gloves ) it left a white glossy coating on them in which was impossible to remove and burnt like hell .. Is this the norm with this stuff or did i probably have an allergic reaction to it .

It is what you would expect. Dyegone contains 35% hydrogen peroxide and ammonia. The hydrogen peroxide just destroyed the first layer of skin on your fingers. You must wear protective gloves with this product and use it with care it has alOt of potential to do damage to you and your clients carpets.

Rinse it under water, and just rinse and rinse and rinse and rinse and ........you get the picture!!!!! but it was only because i had a hole in my glove!!!! ;)

Post by: John Kelly on March 25, 2012, 07:21:21 pm: Wouldn't worry Hydrogen Peroxide is used as a mouth wash. As with all chemicals you should use gloves when handling, especially stain removers.

In seriousness dont worry ive done it loads of time, Mikes answer is good as acetic acid will stop it burning. It will go after a couple of days.
As John says it is used as a mouth wash but at around 5% its also a good antiseptic for cuts.
