Love it and all the changing of the seasons, nought better than breathing in the fresh crisp air and love all the customers with there on tales and humour.
There is no better career like window cleaning ;D ;D :)
-
I do it, but find it boring at times no mental stimulation. Its only just a job. I enjoy fixing my equipment more and thats is not challenging enough. It fine if one did not have a brain. :-\ :-\
-
I ticked not sure yet.......have the last 8 years solid, and having done it on and off for 8 years before that!!
I hate it.........but then remind myself that its pretty decent money, isnt really that hard, and nice to be own boss, even though dont get holiday pay.
So i think i would miss it if i went back to trucking and doing 15 hour days for less money, and up at 2am every morning..... :-\
Mind over matter, stick those headphones in, be positive and just get it done!
-
I'm with wizzkid on this one, it bores the poop out of me. It's the people who never stop talking about it that really get on my tits IT'S ONLY A JOB.
-
Only when the pocket is full :P
-
getting bored of it now. :o :o

If its only a Job your doing it wrong j.o.b -just over broke.
some days I love it some days I hate it every year there is a point where I say do I really want to do this anymore I'm still doing it so I guess the answer is yes.
I prefer to help others so this will be a role that I Make a reality be it window cleaning or marketing their business

CBS cleaning,
Do you enjoy plumbing?
-
Enjoy the lifestyle it gives me and the hours are good ;D
And beats plumbing hands down!
-
With this weather, it is the best job in the world ;D
-
I find it very disstressing. ;D ;D
-
Hours are good but it is just a job after all, it can also be a well paid job.
-
The amount of people I know that are struggling is staggering.no work, skint and in debt.quite a few with drink/drug problems.me?I'm clean and sober and love getting out in the fresh air.my business is getting better year on year.no debts, money in the bank and a positive attitude.
Sometimes I do get fed up with window cleaning but guess what?I CAN TAKE A DAY OFF!!!!and do something else for a bit.
Low stress and not having to work 50 hrs a week just to pay the bills is priceless in my view.
Best wishes
Dazmond

Correct

I like my job; obviously, like every job, it annoys me, especially when you get screwed over by a "customer" but then you just forget them and it's all good again.
I think that we're also in a very position in that if we need to earn a few extra pounds we can go out and get the extra custom; being on a fixed wage must be a worry when all of your bills are going up and your wage is staying the same.
-
Or you can put 150 customers clean price up a bit and do the same work for more money!my prices on these customers go up from april!
-
since gone WFP I like it better than my last job ( firefighter) , and its more money and good nights sleep without the bells going in , mind you I wish I had been cleaning long before i retired cos I could have canvassed some massive houses over the years and believe me the public love the firemen and I would have been laughing all the way to the bank
-
like the flexibility good money for essentially an unskilled job
lovely job in the autumn and spring alright in the winter but loathe it
in the summer if its hot
-
It's s h ite, but I am too set in my way's now to change.
-
There are quite a few people around who don't like window cleaning very much.
I have had a few of these type working for me.
-
get a full round, employ one chap, earn top dollar and chat all day. only downside is you can wear your body out
-
I love it best job I've had!!
But I think mainly coz I'm self employed and I have freedom
I think if I worked for some one else 9-5 5 days a week
I don't think I'd have the same attitude towards a squeegee
or a pole
-
i love it esp
when everyone pays ;D ;D ;D ;D
-
whats not to like 8)
-
I hate the actual window cleaning part have never liked it but i like the freedom it gives me by being able to take days off or finishing early and if i work harder and longer its me that gets the money and not someone else
i think about quitting at least once a week but the reality of it is i could never work for someone now earning probably half what i do for twice the work
-
I love it. I have been in this game for 15 years (100% trad) and building a new business from scratch after moving to Ireland last July.
What do I like about it?
Being my own boss, flexible working hours, working outside, interacting with people, the job itself.
What don't I like about it? Bad weather, not todays, non-payers.
Overall - yup, I'm happy.

Dusty Dave,
Have you ever self medicated with alcohol due to your bad experience of window cleaning?
Can you please share your thoughts with the group.
Thanks,
Dean.

;D You see dave, Dean knows how distressing window cleaning can be. This is a safe place, where we can talk freely, slag off our wives, employees, and customers without fear of reprisals, and generally big ourselves up with boasts of how much we (can't really) earn. feel free to open up and let the pain out! :)

Thoroughly enjoy my job. Always wanted to work for myself, and when I was working as a printer always thought I could do something else as I hated the printing............and the works manager...........and the night shift etc....
When you are in a permanent job, you never seem to have the balls to leave cos its secure, until you are pushed. We had redundancies, and I volunteered, but the feckers wouldn't let me go.!! So I thought, b******s to 'em, handed in my notice (they wanted two weeks, I gave them a week, they stopped me a weeks money, I claimed it back through tribunal...lol).
Asked a local window cleaner, who had unfortunately had an accident, whether it was worth doing, and he said go for it.
Earned my first 100 quid a month...lol, but felt so good. Love working for myself, meeting the customers, having time to do things and generally being out and about. Could never work for anyone again !!!. Like being in control of what I do. Could do with more work, but happy to be where I am now and achieved self employment......... and out of that printing industry.
I also like the fact that I can never be made redundant, unless every custy drops me....lol. Must be one of the only trades where you have continual monthly work, wheras plumbers, decorators, brickies etc.... are waiting for the phone to ring for their next job.
Potential earnings and hourly rate are good. ;)
All in all I like it :)

ian 101 found window cleaning distressing
and costly ;D ;D ;D
-
if i was dean taberner i would find window cleaning distressing!driving all over the country and some very early starts!(5am is it sometimes dean?)throw in a drink problem and id of packed in by now!! ;D ;D ;D ;D
as it stands i have a round thats all within a 10 mile area.most in a 5 mile area very compact and in the leafy suburbs.mainly domestic so loyal and good payers with a few commercial thrown in here and there.im sober as well.very low stress!perfect for me!! :D :D
-
Do you like drinking Daz?
The hard work is paying off now as I tend to try and get 1 or 2 days off a week to persue other things, it has been tough though.
I think that window cleaning and drinking go hand in hand. There's nothing like a nice cold can of an evening after a hard days graft and there's nothing wrong with that, I'm sure you'll agree.
Its the other 9 cans that cause the problem. ;D
I stay away from that though in the week. Windows are bad enough without throwing in an hangover too. :o
-
Some of you guys actually enjoy cleaning windows!!! :o I don't believe you!! ???

Well, it's not bad is it! If you have some good quality work in front of you, the Sun is shining (but not too hot), you've got some stuff you like to listen on your MP3, you've got some nice sarnies for lunch; what's there not to enjoy about mincing around with a pole washing windows for the day?
Yes, sometimes I enjoy it. Sometimes I don't. I'm like that with a lot of things; it all depends on my attitude and the weather I guess.
-
I think to really appreciate window cleaning, you have to have done other jobs to compare how good it really is.

Quite true Samson, I've had loads of different jobs employed and self employed (Office worker, Builder, Groundworker, Mortgage adviser) and window cleaning for me is definitely the best to date, It gives me quality of life and flexibility and that's what I want. Everyday I hear about doom and gloom on the tv, from friends/family worried about work yet every day the phone rings (about work!) and I get busier and better paying work! Happy days :)

I really do enjoy it,not really so much the cleaning (though i dont mind it) more that you can get to a job get it some and gone no hourly rate.I do garding work to hourly rate but time drags on doing that.I dont enjoy the canvassing I a good feeling getting a new job but, getting them seem to be my problem , I hate door knocking a leaflets is slow. But I'd love to get enough so I could do less gardening that's the plan anyway.
