Post by: Bob Allen on March 15, 2012, 08:48:57 pm
Alot of my customers have been asking me if the hose pipe ban will effect me.
Not sure what to tell them at the moment, will it effect us?

The future is LM  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

As it happens No the hose pipe ban does not effect you Bob as you are a business. Look on the window lickers pages, they have been on about it for a week or so now.

It could affect some if the water for certain areas is turned of at some parts of the day as has been muted if tings dont get better.

Personally I cant see us in the North West being affected, its only been dry this week.Peed down all winter.

Hose pipe bans are totally different to drought orders.
A hose pipe ban is there to conserve banks of water by slowing down usage and only applies to a hose pipe connected to a domestic supply, so water from a vehicle is outside of that.
Now, if it gets to drought orders with water trailers on the streets most of us are going to be on sticky ground if we start pumping 100's of litres of water either into carpets or onto windows whilst Mr & Mrs Domestic are standing at a trailer getting their 6 pints of water.

See my answer above, but what about filling up your tanks? Ok if you have a unit and pay business rates but what about those of us, most of us, who work from home.

Yep there will be armies of clipboard wielding jobsworths seconded from the water leak repairs department looking to shop anyone trying to make an honest living.

I think probably window cleaners and truck mounters should have a separate meter. But certainly would be easy pickings unless they have checked with water companies on the position

I trust you can still use buckets as heard on one show about fines for filling paddling pools

Can ducks live without a pond?

They can Wynne, as long as they have some fresh water to drink and splash about a bit, they are fine, why do you wanna buy a couple?? If you are in Hampshire I am not too far away??

NOTE: there is NOT a section for livestock sales so do I win an award for beating the for sale section new rules ??

That used to be that case but rules have been changed.
Veolia water are currently saying we can not use a hosepipe from a domestic supply to fill up a tank mounted in a vehicle. This seems to be the exception, Anglian + Thames still allow it.

I heard ducks are less sickly than chicken but need a pond to thrive. Looking into a grant to create a wetland pond.

They are a lot less sickly than chickens. They do like ponds and can spend hours in them, but not essential. The drakes out the front of our house only have a childs paddling pool, and they love it.

Good luck with the wetlands grant though, get some nature conservationists on your side, they can help in this sort of situation.

Try asking your local friendly farmer, a lot have bore holes now.
They just pay a few hundred a year now for it.
