Title: Collecting payment help
Post by: harunh on March 15, 2012, 08:15:07 pm
I was supposed to start my business yesterday but i failed my driving test :( so got to wait for another month or so now ! !

How ever im just makin payment slips on microsoft word... and i cant use paypal. because they banned me for life for having 2 accounts with the same address !

So i will be collecting payments i will also be accepting cheques aswell.

After u all cleaned your windows do u try and collect payment then ? cos i think i will try and do that if they are not in i will put a slip through saying dear bla bla... your windows have been cleaned today. we will call back around at a certain time to collect payment. thankyou etc

what do you all think ?

Leave a sae and get the custy to send you a cheque,
Or give them your bank details so they can do a bank transfer.

Just post an invoice with address on so they can send you a cheque
And put your bank account number and sort code on
And put bacs payment. Please your address as pay ref:

Don't collect start as you mean to go on.
Put payment with in 7 days on in voice then if there late
Send them a txt reminder

Simples

so would they post the cheque then to me then through post ?

also i think its a bit of a hassle going to the bank and doing a bank transfer for a daft bit of money such as 8 pound or something ? People are busy these days they might get sick of it  ? lol

Most people use internet,or Telephone banking rather then go to a bank. It is proving to me the best way to recieve moneys no matter the amount.

Its up to you if you put a stamp on, i do, as i think it encourages the custy to pay quicker, but if you offer online bank transfers, its free

Don't bother with the stamps.

A good customer will be happy enough to put one on and send you a cheque promptly ;)

Dont waste your money on SAEs.  Customers will pay you without them.  Price of stamps is going up too   :P

Just post a card with your address on, and give them the option of paying by standing order

Id worry about gettin customers first so you earn enough to live on!bacs and sae are fine but its also easier to collect on some work if you get some very compact work on estates

Had a mate who put me on the right track when I first started on the windows, he said leave addressed envelope and your windows cleaned today slip and they'll send you a cheque.
So when I started off I said to each custy, would you mind sending me a cheque and 99% of the time it's a deal, and I hardly ever have to collect. So stick to that and you'll be ok. Just be prepared to make allowances for those that don't have a cheque book. Good luck  ;D
