Title: Van for Granny!!
Post by: Granny on March 15, 2012, 01:04:04 pm
Hi Everyone
Working out of a car at the moment.
Would you agree that a van with signage looks more like the "business" when you pull up to canvass or start work?
Just like some feedback on how much difference that can make.
I may have mentioned B4 I am rather short in the leg about 5'5" - in the missus's high heels ;D
I have got some painting and handyman work so will be using ladders for that and trad windows for a while - ideal is to go permanent WFP but I know it will take time.
In the meantime I need a van where I can comfortably reach the ladders without using a stepladder to get them off!!!
Berlingo seems a bit high, Vauxhall Combo looks about same with roof bars on.
The old Ford Escort van would have been ideal but can't find any thing of a similar height now.
Any recommendations?
Thanks
Granny

Whatever van you get be sure to buy a roof rack with roll bar at the back.
Then you can roll them off without over reaching.
For clamping on stand on the side door sill or the back wheel.

Peugeot expert, you just open the side door and stand on edge to release ladder clamp and slide ladders off at the back. Low enough for anyone

surely you could get ladders off a combo aswell even tho your small,i dont bother with ladder clamps to fix ladder to roof takes to long and i would struggle to get them on/off without a step ladder im 5ft 10 and just roof bars are a pain aswell because ladder needs tieing on properly to stop them sliding off,iv got a ladder rack and bungee cords used them for 2 years now on/off in seconds literally

Hi All
Big Thanks for all the help and advice.
Final day at the office in a few days getting a bit apprehensive but at least I have made a start and done something!
The man who never made a mistake never made anything kind of attitude.
I've kept the fascias and soffits and guttering signage on the van.
All I need now is a bit of advice on how to do it!!!
I've picked up from this site Virosol and a Harris Pole and a converted weed killer spray bottle.
Any tips welcome.
Ta.
