clean your own windows at a reading you know will not leave any marks after drying you will then know your limit of reading if waiting for resin, when you practise with normal tap water check when dry you will see the dirt tap water has left behind, this will be the same on conservatory glass roofs, always rinse with pure to remove any marks. their recomendations could bring you lots of work

good idea to try your own windows, but all windows are different, wood or metal frames might spot easier with a higher tds, also windows that don't sheet but go all bubbly are more likely to spot. also more likely to spot in direct hot sunlight.

oh, and to answer your original question, 8 is fine. I change by 15, but have mistakenly gone to 25 with just the odd spotting on certain windows.
wouldn't recommend going over 10 to 15 to be safe.
