Any one got one ? I've just picked one up
But I need a few fitting that I will get tomo.
It looks like a really well made pump and for £50
It's a steel!! (as long as it works ok) :0)
I'll keep an up date on how I get on with it
Many thanks
Colin

I got one but it's not a booster pump it's a transfer pump. What fittings have you sourced?
-
I only picked it before so I'll be getting the fittings
tommo. It will work as a booster pump and it will increase
Mains water pressure to 4.5 bar ( same thing as I understand it)
In just going to get 2 fittings that will be 1 inch (I haven't measured it)
male Screw in to half in male hose tail, there's a hydronic parts place
Near city centre so I'll just take the pump in with me and get the
right ones
-
Which ro are you going to boost?
-
Merlin, I've got really bad pressure so anything is a bonus
-
Let me know how u get on colin as i have a merlin with about 3 bar be intrested in what happens here.
Cheers cliff
-
I will do mate I haven't had a change today to go and pick the
Connections up, but I'll have a go tomo
May merlin is running on less pressure than your :'(
-
Just fitted my hosetails so mine will be running in half an hour as a transfer pump.
-
As a transfer pump this works great. I have been looking into finding adapters or reducers to connect it 1/2" tubing - so far no luck. If any of you guys know where I could get some I would really appreciate it.
-
Runs a treat, very powerful, need to prime it first, hoping I won't need to prime it tomorrow night otherwise it will need a non return valve.
I'm using inch diameter pipe, got my hosetails from the local marina.
-
Glad to hear it works well mate, it looks like a good pump
It should transfer about 260L in 10 mins so
Happy days !!
-
has any one tried it to boost a merlin yet?
-
set up yesterday to boost Merlin
Before
was getting just under 40psi mains pressure, pure water =1litre a minute
Now
lidls booster pump set up from a breaktank(water butt filled with water) (not water mains)
now i get about 55psi (maximum) and about 1.5litres a minute
I am only using standard hose pipe and hoselock connections
ran for 90minutes
I will try to higher the breaktank and increase hosepipe to a bigger one to see if i can get nearer to the 70psi(4.5Bar)
any suggestions are welcome

Why cant u run it of mains via an outside tap etc
Surely that would work better.
-
local bylaws states that you cant connect a booster pump to mains water

I run my merlin from an outside mains tap which is at 4.7bar.
A 25ltr barrel takes 14 minutes.

so does this mean that ro's fitted with booster pumps are illegal?

You can if you fit a one way/ non return valve. At least i'm almost certain thats right. It will make a big difference to your pressure if you can get it off the main using this method rather than drawing from a tank.

I phoned up wessex water (extremly Rude) and was told it was illigal to fit a booster pump to the mains.
a break tank was needed.
