out on the street today a plasterer comes over,asks how busy i am,wants a price to clean windows and frame edges on a whole load of council houses being upgraded and they are fitted with new windows and his firm is rough coating the outer walls . where the frame meets the coating he wants excess silicone picking off and the windows cleaning . i walk over and look at the windows ,his firm has done 30 houses so far but the clean up of the frames is taking his man 5 hours to clean 8 windows(council houses) on average. they have a contract to do another 300 odd houses
Although he is a proper firm iv decided not to bid as A-im already very busy B- i dont know him,what if i dont get paid C- iv no idea how to price such a job D- why doesnt he simply employ another bod to pick off the silicone?
But out of interest ,What would you price something like that,if you had the time and manpower spare ?

Do 1 and see how long it takes then price them after that.

Sorry I would not go there.
Builders cleans are something I have never been able to price correctly. Its always twice as hard as you can imagine, even if you think its going to be hard!!
Stay away unless you have to

I've only ever done 1 builders clean.
I based the price on what I would charge if it was a normal house, and then added another 150% - It was still under priced, the work was horrible... Never again! ;)

its an hard one i did a builders clean on a office block and it took me twice as long as i originally thought. i would be wary a job that big

well that would be well underpriced which is ironic considering your llast thread ;)
5-6 times normal price then add some, sometimes

If it took half an hour per window x 8 windows a house that's 4 hours a house as opposed to their chap at 5 hours.
Times 300 houses x 4 hours x £30 an hour = a £36,000 job.
Times 300 house x 4 hours x £50 an hour = a £60,000 job.
See what the plasterer says to that.
