Title: Who has bought a trad round and converted to wfp straight away
Post by: roundbuilder on March 11, 2012, 08:31:36 pm
In process of buying a big chunk of work but it's all done trad and I'm wfp. Would you say I run the risk of losing a big chunk if not used to wfp??. I'm going to post them all a letter explaining, I'm just hoping I won't lose much or any for that matter?
Anyone else had problems or good success converting bought work??? Thanks.

I would be tempted to do as suggested above, trad first til customers meet you, get to know you abit before using the magic water. give you chance to explain a bit with the ones who will be in, and build up rapport with them. imagine will prob loose less this way, face to face better than letter, takes longer but an investment IMO.

easier to go straight wfp but think will loose more quite likely. depends how much hassle you want!

good luck either way!

Bought 3 different rounds that were trad. Just pole them from the start. You will lose some anyway. It's just people. Some will like you, some won't. Some will use as an excuse to cancel. If I were to lose 5 to 10% in the first few months I would think its normal.

Gordon wouldnt you be desperate to sell if you lost your licence???. I know i would as how would the work get done?? He hasnt got weeks or months to wait for a top paying buyer has he or the work would be well overdue risking losing customers and giving a bad rep for time keeping for nEw buyer.

Mick,

before you start puffing your chest out defending the fella, it was an observation and a reply to a previous post, not a pop at him.

Yes if I was in his position I would want to off load the work sharpish, thing I would lose my license in the first place cause my business means to much to me.

No just short of £1200 i bought off him he told me it was £750 at the start too but im guessing he wanted to keep some for himself that was local to him to do but as i was there with the redies he decided to sell the lot, there is a couple of schools todo twice a year but im not paying him for them untill they are due also i said he can do them with me. cost me £1500 so not too bad. i also got £220 of new work on top of that by canvassing while going around meeting the customers.

well done personally i would trad the first clean then pole the ups on 2nd then pole the lot on 3rd! :P

best way to make sure you loose as little as pos!

remember traders are loved cos they spend more time cleaning we spend less and so are hated!

You lucky bugger  ;D ;D ;D

To be honest if i took on that amount of work in one go it i would have to take too much time out from my own round to get it sorted   :( :(

If it was a smaller amount of work i would have gone for it but not to worry im picking up nice work local anyway  ;D ;D ;D

and once i take over claremont cresent i'll be well happy  ;D ;D ;D

Pole the lot straight away but make sure every window is perfect first time none of this it will be ok after a few cleans nonsense. Mention Health and safety to customers but also that there frames and sills are getting done and also any windows that are above conservatorys that may have not been done on ladders.

Bought 3 days worth of Trad work about 2 years ago and wfp from start, if you trad once they'll expect it everytime!!! Haven't lost a single one and added another day through refferals and bit of knocking on neighbours doors.

Paul have you had much from your leaflet drops yet???. If i wasnt building another round up id give you my custies off perry street but i cant mate. I can put you on to a couple of good canvassers though who you only have to pay them a tenner a customer and they replace them if dropout so you will have peace of mind. As long as you dont send them to blackheath lol  >:( .
