just wondering how many carpets yous guys avarage per job
reason I ask is that I hate going into a house and cleaning 1,2,3 carpets and there might be 7 there to be cleaned
just feel this discout for more than 1 is the way forward for the short seeing

Not quite sure about the question Jamie.
If you meant " How many carpets do we clean per visit, on average " my answer would be three.....ish, " ish " because there might be stairs or a tiny hall or a very big hall, etc.
Why do you get upset if you go expecting to clean three and end up with six, that seems ideal to me !
Or is it because you're quoting a " house " price and being caught out when it's bigger than you expected and you've underpriced.
If that's the case, you just have to make sure you write all of the details down and remind the customer when you arrive about what was discussed.

Jamie just think of every extra room/chair/rug you get as beer money(or lotto/chinese/indian) and it becomes a little more fun when you get it.Regards Alan(swindon)

I read it that, Jamie goes to clean 1, 2, or 3 carpets, but there are 7 in the house and he does NOT get to clean the rest.......
He is asking if extra discount for more rooms is the best way to get all the carpets....

Jamie,
You could say to the client , " while i am here and have all my kit with me and set up, is there anything else you would like me to clean today, or just "freshen up " for you ?
It works sometimes , and at least you can say to yourself that you asked and tried and get extra work.
If you didn't get extra work try to work out why, were they skint ?, it was obvious other carpets didn't need cleaning, how did you ask the the question, at what point did you ask the question, etc etc
Once you start to do this you can become much more accomplished in asking for more work and getting it !
-
That's ok if you've allocated time for it, but if
your next appointment is booked to follow on
from the work you came to do then you'll be late.

I agree with this and timing is everything. Ask them when they go ew it looks like new.
I will happily go along to do say a thru lounge knowing the odds are I'll get hallway, or hsl and maybe go around the beds. If you allow extra time for extra work you will find you never fail to ask, which is most people downfall.
Usual objection is moving stuff in rooms they haven't planned so I always say just get stuff off the floor and I will clean what I can see. Watch them leap into action!
2-3 jobs a day like this and home before the kids stream out. It ain't rocket science. ;D

My average is prob 3 carpets a job and i do mention about the bedrooms or around the bed etc.
Sometimes they want the extra doing for an all in price..

@John , there is an old saying in "direct sales" Love The One Your With, in other words don't rush , maximize your opportunity for sales with the person you are cleaning for at any one time, so long as you call ahead to let your next appointment know you are going to be a little late , I find that most people are fine with that.

Just been to one now where he booked in for 3 beds stairs landing and thru room then when I got there just wanted stairs landing and some spots removing! I was about to just leave as he was one of those 'once in a life timers' then I said I have a call out fee of £99, he still had stairs landing done and a few spots removed but he could tell I was a little cross >:(

There are certain communities where you do a quote and they say - How much for hol hows? You give me good price.
You give them good price.
Then they say - Soooo how much jus this room, smol room? ;D

use a calculator and show them the price (EG: £120) say that's £120..... if the say "can you do it any cheaper?" lift the calculator to your mouth and say "can you do it cheaper?"
then hold the calculator to your ear and say in a slow voice........ "calculator says no"

That's brilliant.... I must remember to do that one next time, just like I like to play the "Do you like apples" speach when getting sales calls. ;D

2 or 3 carpets in each home is a great way of getting to a figure that suits everyones pockets I can hit a nice hourly rate, full house carpets can get a little expensive and you can sometimes lose the sale if you persue the per room rate or you could lose out yourself if you start to discount.

Spot on :)
-
main reason I ask is that the chem dry up here do first carpet £75 any after £25
think its a good idea... I hate walking out a house leaving 2-3 carpets behind
-
shaun is spot on better off doing what they want if you do a good job you will be back to do the rest at the proper price ;)
-
What I'm trying to say is
How much do you charge for a full house of carpets to be cleaned and how long will it take you?
If you clean 3 carpets you will take more money per hour and leave value IMO, Lounge diner and hsl £200, do you think you'd easily get another £150 for the other 3 beds, bathroom and kitchen? IMO it tips the balance, I'd much prefer to clean within a subliminal budget which I can easily justify and sell at and also I can fit more jobs in a day.
