what can i use to take customer payments over the phone? i see some of you use nochex for online payments. can you fill the form in when the customer is on the phone and then process the payemnt?

i have a mobile card terminal richard from cardsave took a while for customers to begin using it and trusting it but get 20 or so phone calls a week now to pay so isnt bad not really took it out when cleaning yet for mobile service but always handy to have when chasing bad payers

that's interesting. i dont fancy having one on the van, and that's why i;m thinking of a web based system.
not to take money for regular cleans, but as you say for debt, additional services, and new customers or one off cleans

You can use PayPal virtual terminal for this.
Basically, this allows you to take visa/mastercard/debit card payments over the phone, fax or mail.
You dont need a PDQ machine or anything like that, you just log in to your virtual terminal from your PC.
https://www.paypal.com/uk/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_vt_hub-outside
The fees are:
£20 per month + 3.4% of the transaction + 20p per transaction
So for example a £15 house would cost 71p in fees (plus the £20 per month)
If you already have PayPal website payments pro, then its free.

a new system should be out in a few months "ping it" apparently you just take there mobile number and it does the rest,so i believe

Yup-second that
No collections in the evenings ever!
Modern customers are savvy enough to do this and we now have PINGIT-I installed on my mobile but the customer has to be (at present) a barclays(robbing gits) customer - no doubt the rest will follow suit
Commercial customers invoiced always
regards
Roy :D

i want something that we can do whilst the customer is on the phone. bank transfers rely upon them doing them after we have spoken to them, so the pressure is off.

Fair point, ;D

im guessing this is mostly for bad debt ?
Standing order is the way forward, no need to do anything apart from the admin.

we use standing orders, but even with them you get poeple who cancel them and dont tell you, who then owe you money, and of course then there's extra one off jobs you do which arent covered by the SOs
