just had to change the ignition key start on my P/w engine and now it does not start....... well it does start when i turn the key but as soon as i let it go the engine stops

i was very careful that all the wires went to the right place  but still it won't go any ideas??

It sounds like you have the ignition wire on the terminal where the start wire goes so it drops the supply when you stop the starter. Which kohler is it ? I know its a command but does it have hydraulic tappets or adjustable ones ? If you get stuck ring me and I'll look on one of mine when I go to the yard over the weekend

thanks for the link, I've got 3 of these engines  the terminals are connected correctly, the reason I changed it was the original one melted

the exhaust had been diverted and a hole was blowing hot exhaust directly at the fitting melting it :-\

I think an electrical  short was caused with the melting and caused a fault further  along the electrical system

I'll play around with it tomorrow then if no joy take it to the engineers

My first drain jetter had the early push rod engine on it and that caught fire while I was jetting on the busiest road in Dover  :-[ That was a wiring fault on the wiring loom. I bought a brand new engine from ebay for that and I also have another newish engine with a LPG conversion on a speck pump sat in the yard.
