Had my RO almost 4 years now and its taking longer to produce pure water had it running since 8am yesterday and it still has not produced 300 ltrs . Is it time to replace RO membranes changed filters about 4 months ago , MIKE

I am having the same problem. Apartently speak to June at Gaps water. that is what I am going to do. She is the oracle I have been told!

Thanks mate just had a quick research and RO membranes might only last 3 yrs so this could well be the problem , I have a 200 GPD RO . And looking on www.purefreedom.co.uk i can replace RO membranes with with 150 GPD membranes as they are the same size 10 " membranes which means i can up my water production to 300 GPD . Think i will order some today . MIKE

4 years on a membrane is good long time. I live in a hard water area but I have to change mine every two years.

Just remembered never changed resin in small DI filter either so might need to get some resin as well . I live in a soft water area so pretty lucky Vince . MIKE

We also experience reduced water production in winter as water temperature drops.
Water production doesn't appear to slow down until we get into December and only seems to get back to normal around June. We have a 450GPD R/O unit producing into an IBC tank and the three of use have have to plan our water usage during winter.
We live in a soft water area (90TDS) and our membranes are nearly 5 years old and still going.

Yes and in the summer they drop the pressure to reduce the usage.

I am aware that the cold weather slows production down , But its a slower than normal yesterday in 6 hrs managed to produce roughly 250 ltrs turned tap down a bit for overnight and it has'nt even produced 100 ltrs in 12 hrs puzzling . Will have a good look over weekend . Mike

It's not that simple. You need a higher water flow going in and may need to change some components for it to work properly (e.g. flow restrictor)

what is not that simple mate ???. i have a good flow of water from my tap , what is a flow restrictor . Thanks MIKE

The flow restrictor kind of makes a back pressure whcih forces the water at the right speed through the membrane .
I have the 200 gpd and had the same probs as you,just changed all the filters and 2 new membranes and alls fine again.
