Title: VW Transporter or Transit ?

Cant decide which to go for T4 Transporter or a 2001 transit most of which are rusty as hell.
What do you guys reckon ?

IMHO transits more reliable mechanically and cost less to fix and normally cheaper to buy VW drive better and hold value better

2001 Transit? That sounds to me like a disaster waiting to happen. Nobody looks after Transits. You might just find a transporter thats had a bit of TLC, if you are very lucky.

01 plate transit... go for that if you want to have problems and a lot of overheads on your motor !  make sure the mileage isnt to high also... but considering a transit that old.... their must of been ragged f*** out off ! lol

If the tranny got the old engine then go for it, if its got the newer common rail lump run and hide  8)

v dub all the way for me. and yes, costs more to buy, but holds value better and I'd say better second hand market for them too....

both vans are good but transits older than an 02 do have issues, I've had a t4 and a transit 52 plate, both were good vans, if going for a transit i would get an 02 or newer as earlier ones had issues, the fuel pumps on transits are a common fault at £1500 a pop, not heard of a major fault with the t4's though
