Hello!
Im looking for a commercial quality hand held vacuum to clean upholstery and stairs, i tried one of the new all plastic models from Argos and it was rubbish.
some of the older dirt devils look ok, but what are your experiences in terms of results and reliability?
Cheers

i just use the portable ;D
If your worried about your vacs , perhaps you could custom build an inline water bypass ... piece of metal hose connector tube ... with small metal pipe and spray nozzle inserted / welded .
Ashbys sell one but you have to buy either a vacuum or handtool with it .

Try the home-tek hunter vac. It's a 730w so plenty of power in them.

The Hunter vac types are ok although I stopped using mine when the thing starting getting quite hot after about 10 minutes continuous use.
They used to come under different names dependant on who you bought it from. A Carpet cleaning supplier was knocking them out at about £100 whilst at the same time Somerfields were selling the same thing at £29 :o

Got my Hunter in summerfields sale about 5 years ago at a bargin of £10.00 and it is still going strong , it does get hot but not burst into flames yet.

Would a Lint Hog not work for this?
The finer stuff would just pass through the motor if it wasnt trapped in the waste tank.
You can get a little head from Numatic or Sebo for doing stairs and upholstery with a rotary brush. You would need a reducer with it though.
