hi guys, just wondered if portables that can be run from a van could be used with the van locked, if not as anyone had any problems with security ie the machine getting damaged or vandalised when your out of site..cheers

Condensation would be a problem unless you vented the van.

I'd rather take mine out anyway, must be a pig
to fill if you haven't got auto fill.
The hoses running down dirty drives.
The distance you have to walk to turn on and off.
Ideally I like mine outside the door with the hoses
and electrics through a window, so you don't get
rain water on their hall carpet.

My Airflex can in theory be used from the van, its a pain to fill it up as the head hight in my van is limited and as already said you can guarantee that if you run hoses across someones garden or pavement your get dog sh.. on it.
I have no trouble using it from outside the customers home, keeps the hoses pristine as they should be if they go inside a customers home, the noise hot air and humidity stay outside too. i dont really see the point of leaving it on the van, i can have it out of the van in seconds without ever having to bear the whole weight of the machine so i take it out because its easier to use outside. the only times i have used it from the van is very heavy rain and no cover.

I run my machine directly from the van, never had security problems. I have a 250ltr auxiliary solution tank fitted with a hoselock connector so no filling problems. The tank is also fitted with an emersion heater which I run for about an hour on cold mornings to take the nip off, this helps the inline heater to keep up to heat.
I have 150’ of solution and suction hose on a reel, though usually 50/75’ is enough, very rarely would I use more than 100’.
I find working from the van much easier, so much so, that on occasion I’ve turned work away if access is a problem.
It also allows for those with far less scruples than I, to tell the client that the machine is van mounted because it’s far more powerful than the machines that other carpet cleaners use and therefore will produce a far superior clean.

I run a Storm from the van works well with the remote, auto empty and fresh water tank. I also fitted an anchor point on the side door and bulk head and thread a thick cycle lock through it. Allows the door to be open about a foot. Never had problem with condensation but you could just put the pipe on the exhaust.

Depending on the type of job i am faced with, will depend if i keep the gear on the van.
No hassle to lift the Jag off and take it to the required area, i have a selection of various lengths of 2" hose.
If continues heat is required i can also take my Zeta off the van and place it next to the Jag (outside)
I also carry a long hozeloc reel
