Title: Fake tan removal
Post by: Harry Roberts on February 20, 2012, 09:10:59 pm
Hi guys,
Any ideas what I should use to remove fake tan spray on a wool Berber carpet.
Thanks in advance for any responses.

It's unlikely anything will remove it, if it's white or cream some hydrogen peroxide with heat may lighten it a bit, but results vary, so I wouldn't make any promises,

Sometimes it is best just to say, 'No'. If you start tampering with stains when you're not certain of what it is you are dealing with, you can make it worse and it's always for the customer that won't let you off the hook once that happens.

Think I might need to do another DyeGone video on my trust berber samples.

Does dye gone really work well ?

I've yet to come across a solution that really completely removes hair dye and fake tan stains !

I may shell out a bit of cash & give it a go if it really is successful  ;)

Irn Bru was always the challenge. Chemspec claimed it would shift it and I trialled it with success.

They also claim fake tan in the newsletter so will need to have a go.

More stock of it arrived last thing today so will bring some home and try on the carpet in the bedroom.

The Mrs spilt it honest!

No. Since we are in Scotland it actually makes you look an even paler shade of white!

This attempt at Irn Bru removal seemed to leave a white halo, but you can't have it both ways I suppose  ;) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Xb-C4-dhZc

Paul - It doesnt look too bad when dried out fully. I will post a pic later as the sample is in the office.

There are a couple of reasons for this:

1. Carpet was wet so product "bled" outwith the stained area. I should have dried it off first.
2. I didnt mask the surrounding area when applying so got some over spray.

If you watch the coloured sample video this was done straight onto dry samples and didnt have the halo effect.
http://youtu.be/I9xmsaujcgo (http://youtu.be/I9xmsaujcgo)

In the berber vid I actually left the product on for over an hour and a half as I was distracted by day to day office stuff and then had to cut the video back.

As we all know when we get to the point of having to use reducers and oxidisers for spot removal colour change has to be qualified with the customer. Not every carpet may behave in the same way.

Customer could have this though:

Like I said above this did have 3 times the length of exposure actually required.

The coloured samples look like this now.

Is dye gone just another oxidising bleach or does it contain something different to deal with the stains,

I have a few. A few race tuned. One with NOS.

What size engine for which model?

Mine are all PX/T5 motors.

HI me son in law won a 2011 vespa s125, but the oil filter got damaged and when he stopped on the hard shoulder
the old bill made him ride it off the carriageway which screwed the engine. The oil was silver!

He's ordered a new crank today....how fast does the non engine go?

The NOS engine was a 200cc but now runs a rebored 210cc barrel, with a machined & ceramic coated jetski piston and modified head taking it up to 240cc with a long stroke crank and water cooling. It has electronic ignition and was engineered by a mate who tunes motocross bikes and race go-karts and built in my shed.
The NOS is a 20hp kit for a snowmobile taking the standard machine from 12hp - 22hp + 20HP of NOS. It only runs a small bottle that gives about 30 secs of continuous use.

Speed wise at the moment it still runs the standard gearbox with a longer 4th gear but goes off the clock in 3rd gear (indicated 90mph) . I can just keep up with it on my R6 (100hp) to 65-70mph when my sis in law rides the scoot with NOS on from a rolling 20mph start.
