Title: Still not received payment
Post by: steveo22 on February 17, 2012, 08:13:25 am
I'd like to send a text to a Commercial/Domestic customer prompting for payment, any ideas of what to write without sounding to pushy, i.e Just a gentle nudge towards payment!

What, you mean they let you clean their windows and now you want paying for it?!!!

Hi, it's Steve from Really Shiny Windows, here.  I'm chasing up outstanding payments and you're business is one of them.  It's probably an oversight, but it's requested that payment of £5.39 is paid in respect of the window cleaning which took place on 10 Feb 12.  Thank you.

text is too timid.   a few months ago i ordered official looking stationary from vistaprint with matching security envelopes(free sample) to send reminders to a few heel draggers who would not answer the door to me. all paid up sharp ;D

Okay, how about:

It's Big Steve from Really Shiny Windows.  You owe me for the last window clean.  If I'm not paid by Thursday I shall be paying you a visit with a claw hammer.  I know where you live.

He's a good customer and their is never normally a problem, just want to prompt him without sounding rude or brash, I save that for some of my other customers!!

For me it is rare for this to happen, but I have been there.
What I do is type up a dated letter stating the outstanding balance has not been received and is required to be paid immediately in order to continue with the service.
Then go and doorstep them.
Go to their home or business and if they are there politely explain the situation to them. 99.9% of the time you will get paid and will probably get an apology aswell.  :D
If they are not there leave the letter.
If there is still no reply after a reasonable time period after you leave the letter repeat the process again.
Most late payers are forgetful and all they need is a little reminder.

I do lots of commercial and can wait 4 months even been as long as 6 months and these jobs are cleaned every month I dont mind as its nice when they do pay but then they may miss a month out so you gotta get onto the fone and say youve missed out an invoice for the month of ++++ they are pretty good they just tell me to send another in good as gold really ... Or we will say were trying to get our books up straight and weve noticed your  owing a few outstanding invoices they just send on payment but am lucky as have quite a few good payers which see us thru to cover all the bills just as well really !!!!!!!!
