Title: wool and silk rug, how much
Post by: Clare.w on February 16, 2012, 04:26:44 pm
Hi all, quick question
we have been asked for a quote to clean a 3m x 260cm wool and silk mix rug, what would you charge?
Just a little bit worried as its an expencive rug, not done anyrhing like this yet before, should we be?

Ditto. Not worth the worry and sleepless nights.  :)

Why not give the job to someone with experience and do it with them.
Next time you`ll have a better idea.

It's not a challenge if you have no idea what you are doing is it :) Why risk getting it wrong.
Search locally for someone that has the experience required and ask if they can do it on your behalf at a very large % split to them.
Go back to custie and say you have to see it first to determine which methods need to be used and to give them a written quotation. Take the experienced person with you and stand back and let him handle it from there. If he wins the clean, then assist him with the clean.  :)

Presuming colour-fastness, normal processes not a problem.  Most important thing you need is grooming skills on a par with Gary Glitter ;)

p.s. I would not take on a silk rug without some experience though.  Some are OK, others not OK :)

Thanks all, good idea to find some one experienced, don't seem a very friendly bunch here in Norwich though  :(

Yeah, worst one is Jason Hedges... I heard he bites the heads off monkeys

And that Dennis Wynes fella, he has murdered four customers and he's only been trading a year!

Hi Clare,
Is this a hand-woven "Persian" part silk?
If it is, then I would be happy to clean it for you at a trade price. Then you can charge your customer a retail price for it. All you have to do is courier it to me, I'll clean it and courier it back to you.

Feel free to call me if this interests you.
