Also gave myself a £25 a week pay rise this week does that count as a price increase ;D

I like June to put mine up. The budget has passed, the sun is shining, it's a good time for taking on new work and I feel braver. :-\

i'll of been going 2 years come april, so most of my jobs arent very old, but a few of them are too cheap from my lack of experience pricing.
do you reckon its too early for me to start putting the prices up? im scared because it will affect me if i lose a few jobs

if it will affect you, try putting up the worst ones 1st, then go through the list a bit at a time, that way if you do lose enough to make a differance to you you can stop for a while till you get more work in then restart,

When I read posts like this it makes me cringe.
If you are serious about your chose proffesion, then you are running a business. As such you should be prepared to increase your prices to cover costs as others raise theirs.
If you try and absorb the rise in diesel, van/car insurance, PL insurance etc then very soon you will find yourself working for nothing. As long as you don't kick the arse out of your price increases then your customers will accept them.
We increase prices every year but not on all properties, some of them we feel have reached a maximum for that type of house, in 12 or 18 months time we may revise these and increase them.
Knowing your customers and understanding your business is what makes you a success.
Sorrywill get off my soap box now ;)

But if he is one of those that hasnt put his prices up in years then its fair enough, A bit of good advice I have picked up and will use is 10% price rise every 2 years assuming inflation doesnt go up more than 5% a year. I have been guilty of not putting prices up..not anymore.

all customers ive spoke to have accepted the new increase.only one wanting me to change frequency to every other month which i have no problem with.
by the end of april on the new prices it will amount to an extra few hundred quid a month for the same work.so happy days.
im only one week in though.i have another 2 and a half weeks of putting some prices up every day!! :) :)
ill also be speaking about increases on monday when i go collecting to around 25 customers!!
