Chicken and the egg situation.
Exhibitors need people to go and buy, whilst we as buyers need to see loads and loads of exhibitors to entice us.
I wasn't going to go because of the lack of carpet cleaning exhibitors whilst exhibitors.........

Hi Guys

I went a couple of times when it was at the Excel but very much had a feeling of diminishing returns and since it has moved to Coventry I haven't been.

Difficult times for most industries and exhibitions are always expensive for suppliers.

Cheers

Is a shame, these placecs are great for a meet up more than anything. I spent the day at Excel wondering who everybody was and having a game of guess who! Easiest one was Len Gribble, he looks exactly as I imagined, just missed Doug as think he only went in the morning.

Problem with these exhibitions is they cost so much to have a stand there in most cases thousands. A lot of work and effort and at the end of the day will probably make a loss as well!

Also covered in the topic 'Postponed' maybe the title should have Carpex/Windex added to it.

a good display can cost around £10,000 pound (possibly more) to an exhibitor once you factor in logistics and hotel, travel, extra wages and there stand etc... absolutely ludicrous in this climate and the footfall they will get.

I think Hydramaster done well a few years ago having their own open Day with drinks entertainment food,  and demonstrations of their equipment,
better spending their money on that, than floor rental space at some over priced exhibition venue

...and another thing!!
why should we share our venue with window cleaners (no disrespect to them) but its bad enough window cleaners thinking they can also clean carpets...why encourage them by having a joint exhibition!!

Hi Guys

This is why the suppliers have been keen to attend CCDO's and alike in the past as it is much cheaper and there is a captive audience.
The CCDO came about because suppliers would organise days and basically sell to CC's whereas we wanted to be in control with the suppliers passive.

They were very sucessful intially but times have changed

It would be good to meet up again sometime, can I suggest London!!

Cheers

I'm the opposite - a carpet cleaner that has started (well 3 yrs) doing window cleaning.  8)

Doug, there is more to the country than south of Watford.  ;)
I say have it in Cumbria, there are plenty of sheep to go round.

Although i missed the last one in Stoke, i would say it is the best place, its
suprising how many tacca members are in Scotland looking at the map.

The thing with London is there is many  contractors (office, carpet and window cleaning contractors) that turnover at least £100,000 and therefore can easily spend a few thousand pounds on a piece of equipment, it would make it worthwhile for the suppliers.
