you can also use a pay pal account. You send out a pay pal payment request and your custy can pay using a card. No messing with chip and Pin or bank charges. + you can use a well trusted provider.

You don't have to pay a PayPal charge if you ask your customer to check out payment as 'gift'!

Im not sure as I take payments, not make em, and for what PayPal charge, its far better than cost of my time and fuel. But I do know when you pay you can choose to make it a gift so as to have no fees. Why not try pay yourself off the wifes account or somat? Couple of pence, you'll see the option come up!

I'm quite sure you cannot use the "gift" thing anymore and it still charges you the standard amount.

That must be a new thing. 2weeks ago we had someone put a deposit for a puppy using PayPal gift to avoid charges. £100 and no fees.

You can still use the gift option, i use it all the time when buying and selling fishing tackle on different forums.

Take a look at www.payatrader.com for card acceptance. We have a live offer with the forum where you can join for £74 (use referral code CLEANITUP).

The service is low cost and provides a FREE virtual terminal so you can take payments over the telephone. You can also download a payment button for your web site if you have one.

Other channels include online at www.payatrader.com, mobile at www.payatrader.mobi and via a 24/7 contact centre. You can also take payments via an iPad.

There are no monthly charges or minimum usage fees - you only pay the processing rates (2.3% to 2.95%) when you use the service.

For traders with regular customers who are out during the day, you can build a customer database and send email payment requests with an embedded link.  Again, this is a free feature and saves the need to visit in the evenings, telephone calls, postage and/or waiting for a cheque to arrive in the post!

Good Luck!

Linda

Thats quite expensive. You need to be taking quite a few card payments each month for that to cost in!

If an average job is £20 it costs 59pence per transaction with Payatrader.

If you pay £29 a month in rental you need to be taking just under 50 card payment to cover the rental alone.

That's why we designed Payatrader, for low volume users, on a PAYG basis.

Obviously, if you do commercial windows with a high ticket value you may be better leasing.
