I am investing £20,000 in my business next week to try to take us to the next level and kick start the franchising I have been working on for the last 18 months.
(7K) is being spent on new equipment. poles (all gardiners), new sign writting on our vans, new uniforms, re - vamp of the webite. another gutter vac, upgrades to our static system, new office equipment and computer. aqua dapters for every pole, new logo. ect ect
the rest (13k) is being spent on our largest ever leaflet campaign 200,000 starting in the last week of march we are using jog post (from dragons den and tried by us last year) to deliver 10,000 a week every week for 6 months! we have an out sourced call centre answering our incoming sales calls, taking the customers details, pricing them up over the phone and emailing them over to my office. I have a plan in place to alow us to cope with up to 50 new houses a week, altough I would prefer in the region of 30.
our leaflets (a3 folded brochures) will also advertise our franchising. I am hoping that this will generate enquirees which i can turn into franchisees. each of them will get a marketing campaign of 50,000 of the same leaflets which I hope will also create more franchisees, starting a snowball effect and so on.
by the end of the year if all goes well I hope to have at least 1 franchisee and we will be getting another van and using pure freedom to convert us over to hot systems.
The best way to predict the future is to create it!

That sounds very impressive mate. Let us know how the leafleting works out for you.
And good luck with the new venture
-
did you see the leafetters jogging after the first 30 minutes? .
-
what I saw was the best response to any leaflet campaign I have ever done, and I have done alot.
-
Brilliant lee. Hope it all works out for you as you must be due a new car soon ;D
-
whats become of the leafletter guy you had before? hope youve got him still onboard as a good leafletters worth a lot
i employ 2 partime leafletters ,but wont mention to them they can start jogging, unless you say youve actualy seen jogpost jogging
-
that all sounds good, looks like youve put in a lot of hard work, good luck with it, hope it goes well, always good to see someone going a bit further for a business,
-
Its uncanny you should say that. I sold the porsche only yesterday. got a range rover as I found I couldnt actually do anything with the porsche. I must be getting old lol
-
Which one lee? I have a full time job as well as my window business. I work in the factory making the evoques
-
Hi Lee,
I would be interested to find out your cost per customer using this method, why do you think you had the best response from the jogging campaign? Do you think it was the jogging or just a particularly good leaflet?
Just for the record I am interested in all forms of marketing....
-
sport TDV8
cost per customer average £20.00
Yes we have a very good leaflet (no I wont be sharing it) its more like a brochure.
We had a good response because they only delivered my leaflet, they delivered on a sunday, they did 12,000 in one day, their team leaders job is to monitor the delivery to make sure it is getting done and the guys delivering are doing their job properly.
I had a steady stream of customers every week for nearly 8 weeks. The same area had been done by another company a few months earlier (they did 5,000 for me) and not one call. looks like they went in a bin!
This is why I will be using jog post to do all our leaflets from now on.

That sounds really cool, does the work tend to be spread out though? I know that can be ok on bigger jobs but what about the normal run of the mill houses?
-
nice one !!! let us know how it all goes.
but just only 30-50 first cleans in a whole week !?
i thought u got a few vans on the go if they are all busy why not run those vans on the weekend too or sub out the first cleans 15-20 average size first cleans a day should be doable per man over one decent day.
-
Best of luck Lee, you certainly put your money where your mouth is.
-
Good luck fella
All the best with you venture, hard work always pays off in the end
-
its nice to have so many posetive coments.
I think 50 first cleans a week is pleanty, im not trying to burn us out!.
We leaflet the same areas again and again and because of that our round just gets more and more dense. So spread out jobs never bothers us.
we are only adding 2 new towns this year and we will hit those areas multiple times during the year as well as door knock there to build the density.
-
Congratulations on the big year ahead, and your mums new car.
-
i suppose that's a steady 200 a month
its always promising for me to see the larger window cleaners focusing on domestic, some later switch to commercial only and i always wondered why yes domestic can be a bit of a pain at times but done correctly i feel its the best
-
I really like the overall policy, sounds like you got every angle covered...
Nice one Lee
-
Good on yer. Best of luck and hope you are successful
-
Hi Lee
Are you signing up with the NWC site to link in with your leaflet push?
-
whats with all the beef rogue trader? doesnt help anyone
-
outsourcing to a call center , c'mon lee lets start getting real ,
if you're doing a leaflet drop on this scale, and you have a fixed pricing structure, outsourcing to a call centre is excellent. i have used call centres myself when i was the only person in the business. its a fantastic way of doing this sort of thing.
the rest of it... well lets wait and see, but if lee keeps plugging away at his goal, he'll definitely end up getting there in the end. he's certainly not afraid to try, not suceed, and then rethink and try again. props to him i say

Don't ever be scared of shouting about it.
If you are proud of something then show it off.
Don't listen to the negative people who put you down, because its none of there damned business.
Comment yes, but please dont tell others what success they can and or can't divulge
-
Good luck to you lee!!!
i'm in a pretty simalar place at the moment! i've just started again, from scratch!! outsourcing to a call center , c'mon lee lets start getting real ,
Who wrote that?
In fact I have been using this service for the last 12 month and its worth every penny! In the past when doing large leaflet drops im in and out the office so cant answer the phone. Often people would leave no message or a phone number their never on, so by the time you get hold of them sometimes a week later they have gone to someone else.
The service I have gives me 2 dedicated girls answering in my business name mon - fri 9 - 5.30
They take the customers details use our fixed pricing structure to quote the customer then email it all to me, meaning I never miss an incoming sales call from a leafllet. Once someone is an existing customer they contact me on a different number straight to my office.
Its genius and I wish I had done it years ago. So to whoever wrote that, its very real and I love it.

whoever it was took their comment down! had a rethink obviously.
lee, do you have a separate phone number for sales then? is this printed on the leaflet as your number, but you then give the office number when they sign up?
