Chaps,
As my van is parked off road it is not possible for me to put a heater in the van from an electric supply.
Any suggestions about how I can keep the van from freezing?
Would be interested to hear from anyone who has the same problem and what they do.
Cheers, Mike

A heater (like a fogwash perhaps) and a frost stat would be the easiest option.
Spring do a frost stat (Ian posts here sometimes) & I'm getting one built myself, though mine will be too late to help you this winter: http://igg.me/p/65532?a=215355

I tackled it a different way. I changed to pushfits and bring the pump and tubing and solderless plugs in at night - along with the other kit that would suffer. Only takes a few minutes. No RO in mine though. A bit more involved if you have RO in the van.

Thank you for the plug Nat it is appreciated. The controller can be found on our web site address at the bottom.
It will run with a diesel or Gas heater.

I'm sure you can get solar heaters. Leave it in van stores electric in day then use it on the night. Not 100% will post if I find one

All i do is bring in the hose reel and poles turn of water tank valve and drain all the hose leading to the pumb run the pump til no water comes out every evening takes 2 mins and had no problem i always make sure i fill my tank first so if it does freeze it will be an inch of ice on top .

There is a post here somewhere re solar panels, Not sure if they can generate sufficient power to do the job.
A frost stat control connected into a heater or similar system that will warm the water and circulate it works well. in most cases flowing water is not going to freeze.

you guys are gunna love this littlke story ;D my dad was a roofer for 10 years also did built up felt roofing where they use a big blow torch to torch the felt down its a beast, runs of a gas bottle very simple to use. he goes to his van the other day all his system is frozen everythink hummmm :( gets the gas torch fires it up and points it in the van via the front door starts blasting(now i know everyone is gunna go idiont) but he didnt burn anything just held it above everything. worked like a dream 2 mins later all ice gone the heat they give of is ammence !! uses it all the time now and its brill. all you gotta do is make sure the flames are no where near anything and its fine ;D when i first saw him doing it i was like what the..... but it works guys
