Post by: barry mallett on February 10, 2012, 07:03:32 am
morning fellas , my names barry and im new to window cleaning and this forum  so please take it easy .anyway i have a diy cold van mount di only [i still live in a cave in yorkshire ] but when it gets really cold i fill the tank with hot water in the moring.only had to do it this week so far this winter .but yestewrday the hose 8mm  minibore sausaged up and split 3 times in the first hour . the water must have been a bit hotter than normal as there is usually a couple of inches of cold left in the tank from the previous day .but yesterday the tank was empty when i filled with hot .so icould do with a new hose . should i get that thermobore hose from lord alex the high executioner ,and is it ok to use with hot and cold . the most helpful reply wins my old hose [ pick up only ] and the funniest reply wins the contract to whack ken bates. you  might have to team up with griff for that . ;D ;D cheers bazza.please no replies off women

How hot is the water? Normal minibore should cope with hot OK. With thermobore hose the outer diameter is greater (hose wall is thicker), so I would imagine it is more of a pain to drag round and you won't be able to get as much on your reel.

Sorry that's obviously the standard CIU reply!

Yes is the reasoned answer.

thanks for the replies , the water is quite hot for the first couple of hours .on gardiners site it says the thermobore is 12mm od and the minibore is 13 mm . so making it smaller

Simple !, the clue is in the term "sausaged",no need for a replacement.

You need to blow on your hose, just like you would on a hot sausage. If you get an AC/DC converter you could buy an electric fan(cheaper now than in summer),run it off the battery and stand it next to your reel and this will blow on it for you as the hose is reeled out.
