Yes you could, but you wouldn't move very far because of the weight, hence it's useless. Not to mention taking it out of the van full. Near impossible.
-
A shopping trolley would be better.
-
The geeza on ebay sold the grand total of, zero wheelie bins ;D

Why would you want to, besides the fact it would be totally impractical it would look a complete bodge, it wouldn't exactly portray a professional image imo
-
LOL this has made me laugh so much, why would you wanna clean windows from a rubbish bin converted for wfp i can just see it now every homeowner deciding to do away with window cleaners and using their converted bins instead.
When cleaning always best to look professional and know what you are doing, that said i think you should leave the wheelie bins alone. lol
-
There is a guy who posts on here that used to use one. Cant remember his previous name. William X or something???
-
Have you ever tried dragging a wheelie bin full of water around???
I have (for pressure washing), and even 1/3rd full its near impossible. Besides,.. you'd look like a right plonker!
-
i brought one off the guy on ebay best 500 quid i ever spent, saves me time aswell cuz dont need waste my time at the gym,my uper body is massive
-
You'll find the tds will creep up because of all the rubbish in it.
-
The only people I've know who use them are rubbish window cleaners anyway and for them TDS means Total Dumped Sh*t.
-
you sound like some people at golf club they turn up with best clubs and think they are bees knees looking down on some one thats hired some and when they go to hit the ball they are crap
-

and using a wheely bin would be like playing golf with a stick of rhubarb
-
some company at the Coventry window cleaning show took it serious, they where selling just that, wheelie bin trolleys, don't know how well they did though
-
ok lets humour this for a minute. how the hell are you meant to get it in and out of the van without dropping or spilling it? how do you keep it upright driving around?
It would weigh a tonne and would have the manouvreability of a super tanker, any more pros or cons?
-
It would work ok; just don't fill it with water ;D.
You'd be better with a pedal bin for a backpack. Or if you've got the funds, a skip for a van system.

simple only put 5 litres in the bin at any time then back to van for refill,or use the bin as a tank for van mount
you would obviously need a hi top van for this system and get a van with them eletric tail lifts aswell and your sorted ;D

just put it in your mouth because full of poop i put it on as a suggestion am new to this game people like you p me off was told to come on here to get advice to me it looks like you think im a srubber if only you new dont think be back again
-
Don't be so sensitive, dotty. There are some serious answers in there, as well as the jokey ones.

Dotty were not having a go at you mate, honest. there are ways to start up on a budget and im sure all of us who have commented here would quite happily help ypu, well i will if your interested in anything i have to say now. the wheely bin system has been covered on here before and snobbery aside its just not really a good idea. a backpack would be a better idea to get started mate.

People put down the thoughts which are imo correct and instead of listening to them you answer with this
you sound like some people at golf club they turn up with best clubs and think they are bees knees looking down on some one thats hired some and when they go to hit the ball they are crap
It doesn't look to me as if you really wanted advice in the first place, because clearly its a terrible idea but rather than listen to the points put forward you compare people wanting to portray a professional image at work, (which we should all be trying to do) to a poser at your golf club, hardly the same is it.
-
sorry had a bad day bins are for rubish just though would hold lot of water lol
-
Just think. The potential is endless.
You could buy a skip lorry and use the skip as a 'van mount'.
How about a dust cart?
-
Wheres your bin ?
I been nowhere
No wheres your Wheely Bin ?
No Honestly I has Wheely bin nowhere
-
Ok, here's my tuppence worth.
I drag a lot of wheelies about cos I'm a wheelie bin cleaner. Logistics are :
Weight of bin - about 22kg
Volume of bin - 0.33m3
Weight of bin full of water - 352kg (a third of a ton)
BUT it seems to me that you don't need to fill it full. Just a sixth would do to get 2 of those 25 litre barrels you all often talk about.
Main prob is in and out of the van. Most people can manage 25 litres at a go but 50 litres is a lot. Plus the weight of the bin. A barrel will weigh (I'm guessing) next to nothing when it's empty.
So it IS a good idea, which falls victim to it's own success through weight pulling logistics.
Hence in all honesty, and speaking as a bin cleaner who's never cleaned a window - go for barrels ;) - but ten out of ten for lateral thinking :)
-
What he said, and there's no such thing as a stupid question.
As a budget option you could consider a crop sprayer, my first trolley was a converted one of those, then i used a small submersible pump in a 25 litre drum, that was alright, but in the end an omnitrolley works much better, or a friend of mine used a backpack on a sackbarrow.
Better still commit and go for a sysytem in your van, they don't have to cost thousands. I built mine and it works very well.
-
course its a stupid question!get a backpack if your on a low budget and a sack truck and a bungee,a few barrels,DI,pole.sorted.upgrade as you go.
-
