hello need some advice on this matter / when i approach a potential customer offering my window cleaning service asking them if they have a window cleaner ( if they have i do not pursue it any further.) but if they say that they have but are not happy with him/them does this cause a problem i am only asking this because i will be a one man band when i start. i could ask how much does he charge and the customer could say less than what they are really paying thus making it seem like am undercutting if i accepted - i would never undercut but i want to gain new buisness in keeping with the proper protocol and not seen to be poaching someone elses work. i knqw the customer has the right to decide who cleans their property and i am only trying to earn a living, l have not started yet because i am canvassing areas but would like some good advice and teqniques to handle such matters and any other to help me on my way to being professional and successful

It would perhaps be best not to ask them right off the bat if they have a window cleaner but rather just say "Would you be interesed in a window cleaner"? If it then comes to light that they already have one but are not happy with him then I wouldn't ask how much he charges but just offer your own price and try to stick with it even if they haggle. That way you aren't really undercutting and it is the original window cleaners fault for loosing the work due to not being a good cleaner or unreliable etc.
