Title: Van heater to stop water freezing
Post by: Kenny83 on February 08, 2012, 07:08:03 pm
Hi, I usually post in the pressure washing section as that is what i do, nut thought this question would be more suited to you guys as you carry water all the time....
I'm looking into a van heater to stop the water freezing overnight, what would your recommendations be? Thought about a parafin heater, or maybe a ocnvector heater, I live on a main road so having a cable running to the van is out the question, I do have a lesuire battery in the back of the van that charges off my alternator and I also have a small invertor that peaks at 1000W
Any advice welcome
Thanks

I seem to remember people posting that a parafin heater really stinks out your van.  I dunno if that's true.

So does Protectakote. Not sure what to as I live on the main road. I have brought trolley, reel and pole in, but still have tank with water in van which is half full and icy. I will pump water in tomorrow from the shed and hopefully that will melt the ice. Propex heater seems a bit expensive.

There was a post recently about that, but nobody confirmed it or named the product.

Its a Sealey LP13, the Sealey LP14 is also available with its own stand, rather than sitting on the bottle.
About £40 off Ebay.

Looks good, can you leave it on all night without risk of fire?

JUst make sure nothings above it to get too hot, nothing directly infront of it to get too hot, and make sure its secured tightly so it can't fall off. Otherwise its great, van is like a sauna in the morning.

Not sure yet. I've only just started using it on the recommendation of my mate who runs three in three vans. He reckons about 20 nights out of a 19kg bottle (£28), so i'll see how i go. Just have it on the lowest setting.
