Bazooka?

The actual Prochem Chewing Gum Remover is a freon gas freeze type.

It only really works when the gum still has moisture present.
Fine for daily cleaning but when its pounded in and all black a citrus based product is best bet.

Ashby sell a steam gun which worked very well to soften it up then put some spirit or gel on it. It died and never replaced as it was expensive for what it was.

Tend to use a scraper now then go over it with the wand a few times and use citrus gel on stubborn bits and come back to it.

If you are doing clubs pubs etc where there are heavy concentrations then steam, either a wallpaper stripper or a steam generator is a sound investment that will soon pay for itself. Out of the citra jells on the market the most effective that I have come across is the texatherm orangel.
The freeze products are a thing of the past but if you are going down that road you can get pipe freeze from a plumbers merchant at a fraction of the cost of similar carpet products.

A word of caution............when using some of the above remember they are potent solvents and should be used with care.

I've used all of the ones mentioned and found the best results were obtained by using a steamer with extraction followed by wiping away the black residue with a citrus gel laden cloth.

Telling the client you don't move chewing gum is also great as it forces them to deal with it on a daily basis, which is the only real way of containing a chewing gum problem.
We do the odd few but never en-masse.

We never now consider gum removal as part of the standard carpet clean in a commercial situation, its always an added extra at a premium.

We once spent 4 days removing gum from an Odeon cinema carpet which was included in the price of the clean.......never again.
