Hello
I am thinking about getting an Airflex Storm (or a Jaguar 6.6) and was hoping for some feedback from those of you that own the machine?
Have you had any problems with the vac motors or water pump yet?
What's the build quality like?
Any info would be much appreciated or if you would rather not post on the forum please email me at ChrisR2013@gmail.com
Thanks

I owned a Turbo then had it upgraded to a storm and so far i'm delighted with both. I did one vac motor in the Turbo which was done under warranty because it pulled the foam seal throught the vac. When Cleansmart did the upgrade the pump was 500 + hours but still working fine but I replaced it anyway. The great thing is you could buy a pro twin vac and upgrade later to a Storm if you wanted. The remote system is a real bonus and the pump out is so simple and normally it just sits on the van, as standard I use 50 ft 2" hose (a must) but regularly go beyond, the most i've done is 125 and performance has been great. The Storm is lighter than the Turbo and can be lifted but I have a Movano so it's easy to get out when I have too, I also like the big wheels which makes it easier to negotiate steps up to properties. Build quality is robust but as anything you will need to flush the pump at the end of the day and run the vacs for 5 mins without the lid to force out any moisture. The 6.6 vacs are so far fine if they last as long as the 5.7's i'll be very happy. Back up and service from Matt has been second to none.
I suggest you will get similar comments from scorpion or jag owners and this is where suppliers like Cleansmart, World Of Clean and Restormate win because they supply good kit and treat their customers properly.

Thanks for your reply Simon.
Do you know if the new 6.6 vacs are a straight swap (easy to fit) in a standard twin vac Airflex or is it a job that can only be done by Cleansmart?
Thanks
-
If you just want to fit the vacs you would just need the mounting plate and vacs, check with Cleansmart for wiring etc but should be straight forward. The remote system is 'bolt on' but the auto empty involves tank mods, simple enough but for the sake of warranty.....

as an alternative option ... USA built Electro motor 5.7 would fit without mods ..
same airwatts as 6.6 ( about 600 )
Fitting three in a Turbo would kick ass ...

That means diddly... You should get out more! ;D

Am i right in saying that the Airflex Storm has to shut off the vacs before it can pump out?

Both great motors , i just like to see performance measured :)
Strikes me as odd how no one Jag forum wants to know the performance figures of they're machine , even though they were happy to measure the scorpion , Ed V refuses to measure the Jag with a series of excuses , John Bolton has claimed on an American forum that his guages were stolen when the jag came out . During the week i see jan Sullins , who has a wealth of experience and perhaps a ' voice in the ear ' in Jag design posted his test results on cleantalk in an attempt to enter discussion , however no one seemed interested and next poster told him how he should view the performance of the jag ( like an A10 Tunderbolt ?) ... and of coarse the default descriptions , ultratec wind tunnel motors , dont put them in another machine or your tank will collapse etc .... really , he must think some of them are idiots ( i don't mean anyone on here ! ) doubt if he will bother to post again ... :)
I get out plenty ;D

With respect John you can't post questions like that on the other forum it's not what you'd do, it's like talking about your latest girlfriend infront of your ex mother in law.
Now looking at these motors from an objectional point of view would the 6.6" motor being bigger create more air movement than a smaller motor?

John, I have had the pleasure of seeing the results of what CFM's the Jag pulls... And it was more than anyone expected.
Watch this space.... ;)

perhaps you right .
I believe the newer vacs get their performance increase from a newer fan design ( thicker center fan , conical bottom etc ...
in this case ,the two vacs above .... both are conical bottomed , the 6.6 is a two stage with approx 130 lift and 130 cfm .... the ' electro ' is a three stage with aprox 140 ' lift but a slight decrease in cfm ...( although they measured same cfm in the video )
perhaps airwatts reflect working load a little better ... both have around 600
a few other vac have similar performance , some domels , ametek 8.4 has around 700 airwatts but pricey :)

sounds good .. hopefully they measured lift too :)

I could be wrong , but that sound like gravity auto empty ( ashbys offer it as an option also .... you would have a large checkvalve on the waste out let and the waste gate would be left open during use , but when machine is powered off the oneway valve open and waste flows out ( advantage , no filter large output .
But an auto pumpout should open its smaller checkvalve by the power of the pump .

The auto-dump works a treat on the Jag, add to that the constant 90 degrees (c) water from the Zeta and no need to check the waste tank level = Time efficiency.... ;)

Yes Russ but if you have the remote its just a quick switch off while you prespray something or move furniture and away you go it will usually empty in about a minute. I have mine van mounted and its great when working upstairs and you dont need to go back to the van or want to switch from the wand to a stair tool.
Ps I still have my prowler for sale if anyone is after a bargain as i`m willing to drop the origional price, i will be putting it back up on the for sale section just got too busy over xmas to promote it and had other stuff to sort in jan.
If anyone wants to contact me tomorrow about it if you go back on the for sale section to i think end of Nov i think my mobile is on there.
Signing Off now though
Regards Andy Locke.

Not really. The remote saves lots of time too, and wear on equipment, as Andy said when moving furniture etc, you simply switch it off. No need to get back to the van, grateful for that when I'm several flights of stairs up.:D As it suggests before you put your shoe protectors on, start up, switch off with remote and that's it no need to go back until your done. Theres no chance of damage to a 'pump out' system from debris etc, the waste outlet is 1.5" so it's quick and easy.
Not pointless at all ;D

I'll stick with what I've got, thanks..... ;)

Of course, just clearing up any misunderstanding ;D

I have the Airflex Turbo, had it almost two years now and very happy with the machine and the supplier Mat at Cleansmart. its a well thought out and professional looking machine, i use it with 2 inch hose which increases the vac strength considerably, and sometimes use an inline heater called the Magma which is very useful on cold days like these and when you need a bit more power on those filthy end of tenancy jobs. i never take the machine in customers home i leave it outside and just run whatever hose length is required.

Having sold my kit in a moment of weakness a few weeks back I have decided to re-launch and invest in the Airflex Storm which I am collecting next week. I started with an Airflex Pro 130 which although was a great start up machine I quickly found i wanted more power and upgraded to a second hand Scorpion which was a great improvement on power but I sold this a few weeks ago and have now decided on the Storm. Can't wait to try it out and put it to the test. ;D
-
Picked my Airflex Storm yesterday and tried it out on my own carpets this morning and wow what a difference, really pleased with the performance and just over an hour later 80/20 wool mix carpet is nearly dry. Having a glide on the wand also makes a massive difference. ;D ;

John;
In all due respect, although I thought your post regarding myself, Mr. Bolton, and Mr. Sullins (all proven and terrific indoviduals known to most in this Industry as honorable) was shadowed with personal adjenda, here is what I believe you are looking for:

:) Ed , I saw that last week , The 6.6 is performing well , pity you didn't do the tests months ago ... although according to Mytee's John L , you delayed testing as the first runs of 6.6 didnt meet cfm spec , hence the 250 cfm recorded when mytee posted its video .Perhaps the first UK Jaguars are less powerfull than the new ones ?
I don't believe the Uk cfm result as it cant be explained by any data i can see from Ametek .
Also ... I sure a huge Laboratory like the one you used to measure CFM had the ability to measure lift ... why not show that also ... perhaps because you still have the misleading lift figures on your website ... 263 :) that should read 130 ... but as Jan Sullins states he has only measured 115 to 120 ... so it still underachieves there ...
As for a personal agenda on my part .... I have nothing against you or cross American , i have given my opinion on various design features i didn't like when i owned a used Scorpion .
And you are just as bad as any of us ... you constantly call other machines mere ' squirt and suck ' compared to yours ... the ' generic Mee-too ' reference on your website is clearly having a go at Mytee . I see you call someone who disagreed with you a ' cheapskate ' last week on a US forum ... and you throll these boards for business without paying a penny to any of them ...
So don't suggest i have ' an agenda ' for merely voicing my opinion . :)

Treading on thin ice there John....
You know how these Yanks love a libel case...
Mind you, they'd need to find out who you really are first..
You're wiser than I thought...... ;D ;D ;D.

Think you'll find that on most forums posts are taken as IMO as its all hearsay there's nothing to back up either argument.

Goodness me.....
We have two companies with two machines. One advocates thiers is the one one and only, while the other remains silent.
We have posters who advocate the Airflex and others who advocate the Jaguar.
We are presented with youtube demos which demonstrate the differences between one vac and another ::) all swings and roundabouts.
I'm astonished at the one upmanship of some people. 2 years ago a company (who I wont name) left me a voicemail discrediting one of the above companies to encourage me to buy one of their own machines. I was amazed that this guy had stooped so low.
Some people just don't know how to do business and seemingly feel threatened by competition.

I don't think the companies got involved in fairness ...
There was a lot of one upmanship nonsence alright , mostly Colin , and his hostility towards airflex ;D I wouldn't take it too serious ..

I've never used an Airflex, so I've never actually been in a position to comment on it's performance/reliability. :P
Anyway John, I'm saving up for your hand built "Wallace and Grommet Quadvac" you keep harping on about. ;D
Will you be shipping them across the pond ;)

I'll put you on the list ...
While your waiting for that ... im sure you could build a series booster for the jag to make it a quadvac ? just mounted in a large toolbox ... couple of accessory planets 6.6 ?

Now now boys....
I have owned an Airflex turbo and it was a well made and well designed machine. However carpet cleaning machines are evolving and after doing much research i decided to move over to the Jag.
So far i have to say that the machines performance and reliability has been great! and i speak as a working carpet cleaning professional.
Im sure both storm and jag have their individual merits and negative points which is to be expected much the same as some new cars.
Its a learning curve... and if we all try to contribute positive thoughts into the development of future machines then we will all benefit.
