-3 down in Plymouth, everything in my van is frozen solid!!!!!!

even if I could work the ground temp is -9 so would be pointless.

Done enough this week to cover the wages so will have the day off

I'm not long in after trying to do some local work.  Any water on the ground froze up really quickly, though I was fine working in the sunshine.  In the shade my pencil jets kept on freezing up, which I unfroze with a flask of hot water, and then my pole started freezing up with water that'd splashed on it and wouldn't close.

And then I had enough and went home!  ;D

i think some of you just go out way to early when its well below freezing, think after being in the job for a couple of winters you should realise that you aint going get much done if anything at -5 which for most of us it was at 9am,you just get peed of and go home then dont fancy going back out,i on the other hand went out at 11am and finished at 3.30pm never had a problem with freezing windows  and still earnt 3/4 of a days work  ;D

Immersion on all week, toasty warm van, and reel and pump frost free.

I know some of you turn your noses up at this but its so worth it! "how much is that gonna cost you to run bla bla bla"

Well i didnt miss a days work this week, cost maybe £1.50 a night to heat up...i earnt more than £1.50 today  ;D

yeah i might have to think about going out a bit later too! i might start testing my own north facing windows to see if it freezes on them if im unsure, what do you do jackal to decide when its right time to get back to work?

thanks mate

Took reel into house last night to be on safe side.  Put heater in van at 6.45 and by 8.00 everything was toasty, frost free and working nicely.

Went to clean a new custy @ 9.00 but water freezing in sheets on glass- explained to custy that I would be back later when warmer and went for a brew at my mates- also a windy.  His van was frozen up badly - his missus had forgot to put the van heater on early doors and every hose in the van was solid with ice - took us 2 1/2 to defrost everything - bet she won't do that again!

Finally got warm enough to work @ 12.30 - worked solid til 3 then picked daughter up from school.

At least I got a couple of hours work done so lucky compared to others.  Heard a rumour of snow tomorrow.

Oh, and picked up a new monthly custy  8)

mines pretty simple mate,iv just got a temperature gauge in the back garden where its the coldest in morning away from the sun aswell, and i dont bother going out unless if its -2 or higher as for me this is where it becomes a pain to clean windows,im trad and would use mainly screen wash in bucket at - temps,we are lucky it dont normally last more than a week or 2 so just have bit of spare cash for the bills, but then again my main bills are only £500 per month  ;)

I've gave in today to on a big cladding job. Last few dads had to thaw out equipment before job and once yesterday on the job after an hour. By 3.30 its been freezing on the cladding so have to give up.

it is about time winter got here
look at it as a bonus for us all.
