Mines a jtd 54 and it 85k or 5 years. Get it done mate.

if u don know when it was last done the defo get it done.
remember for mot they will rev the b******s off it as well
new belt cheaper than an engine
unless you can nick a british gas van ;)

yeh its the best van ive had . twin sliding doors flies up all the hills even with a full load , drives like a car . its in really good nick . gonna try look after it and hope to get another 7 years out of it . i only do 5000 miles a year . the last van i had was a nissan vanette , had it 3 years very reliable but i could walk up the hills faster ;D

It's deffo 85000 on that van or 5 years which ever comes first. I've been there and I'm nearly there again 2nd time around :)
-
thanks for the fast replies , will defo book it in to get done with the mot , may as well get it serviced at the same time . but how much will the belt cost do ya reckon about £250
-
top tip for you timmy use one of your old trad belts, works a treat. If not you should get away with around £200-£250
-
had one fitted on me old van and all done for less than a ton,2hr job max. ;)
-
Make sure you get to see the old belt. check its not oily if it is get the oil leak fixed . also by seeing the belt you will know the jobs been done, rogue places say they do it but dont ,they never will show u the old belt

Alright barry iv got a fiat doblo 1.9 d (non turbo), What dean said was spot on, i had mine done the other week at 80k miles. The timing kit (pulley's, tensioners and belt) for 80 odd but you should also get the water pump done because if that fails its as good as the belt snapping and it only cost 20 odd quid. I got an auto mechanic to do mine outside my house for £65

right its the water pump as well then , will get it booked in cheers all bazza

Its not so much the cost of getting it done, its the cost of not getting it done. Timing belt goes and unless you are lucky it will scrap the van.
-
you are making the right descision Barry.
Just to add my experience with my peugeot expert, bought it with 72000 miles, a year later it cost me over a grand to fix after the belt slipped a couple of teeth and knackered a couple of valves ! I got off lightly :-[

1 up here for 84K - my Pug 406 car has the HDi /JTD engine and it's on 174K !!!
According to the service manual it had one at 84K then I bought it on 120K and had mine replaced for £280 at 154K.
(Lots of stop start journeys for us window cleaners with vans mind! So do it at 5/6 years regardless of miles next time if you've still got the van!)

There is a recommendation for time as well as milage

Had mine done last weekend by a mobile mechanic who did the work on my drive £110 all in. Two hours work. My van a Connect has done 91,000 miles. Guide lines were 100,000 miles.
My car will be due for one soon so more expense!!
