Post by: bad trippy on February 01, 2012, 03:51:44 pm
Jsut wondering what the most tax affective way of getting a newer van.
Pay for it all cash, or finance it for, say 3 years?
Or is there really no diference?

pay for it cash, you can still offset this in your tax return as a loan to the business, unless theyre offering you interest free that is, if they are then use their money instead

I always thought finance was a better way, because you get tax relief on the interest. Might be wrong though!

If you had a £1000 of interest, the tax relief at 20% would be £200. The other £800 would come out of your profit.,

Not a lot of difference tripster - decide on which way suits your financial priorities.

If you go finance and Franky or Tosh won't lend to you interest free  ;D  then a bank is usually cheaper than finance "provided" through the garage.

Tho' sometimes there is a better deal to be had from the manufacturer if going brand new. But weigh these options against the best deal for cash.

iam hunting around the back of the settee now to come up with the money for trippy.

malc,my van was brought though the garage finance, and it was between 15/30 pounds amonth LESS than the high street bank,
there was a couple of loans cheaper on the internet,by £10 a month, but when i applied for one i got turned down, witha  very good credit rating.

Surely your accountant could answer that one better than a bunch of thick window cleaners like us...
