Title: Gardiners slx clamps needed adjustment alot today for some reason ?
Post by: Erithwc on February 01, 2012, 03:44:52 pm
Today i had to adjust my clamps loads of times for some reason normally i don't need to touch them.

My question is does carbon fiber shrink in cold weather or not ?

Hi Erith

Carbon Fibre is temperature dependant and as it has been very cold today so it may have made a slight difference. If it has only been one or two of the clamps it may be that the barrel nuts need replacing. The barrel nuts have a built-in lock nut part that with age can wear. This will mean that the adjustment bolts do not stay as tight in the same position. Replacing the barrel nuts will cure this if this is the issue.

Would you ever consider doing px deals. And a second hand/refurb range.

For what we could offer on a trade-in clients would be much better selling a used pole on eBay. We do occasionally sell slightly used poles such as ex-demo poles, but this is not very often.

Interesting post, I've not been out today nor will I be tomorrow so I might skip this.  But I'm wondering if this is the case and they require a tighten up due to the weather, then when the cold goes away I'm guessing a loosen up might be in order.

Has to be only slightly though I'd have thought.

Unfortunately not at the moment - when one becomes available they do tend to sell very quickly.
